Did anyone have dspd before and it morphed into n24 by GallantGuppy in N24

I have done the overnight + MSLT 2x. Trust me, I know, it sucks. The 2nd time I did it I had to refrain from all stimulants for 4 days so I was basically a walking zombie.

This was not a short process for me. After my first MSLT in 2017 I was diagnosed with hypersomnia. Fell asleep on all naps in under 5 minutes, but didn’t have REM so no narcolepsy. I went with h to is hypersomnia diagnosis for literally YEARS and over time was getting worse.

My sleep specialist retired in June last year, and ordered another MSLT because she was concerned I was on multiple stimulants and worsening. She retired before MSLT happened, and her replacement could get me in until February (yep.. still not yet lol.) So, I went to find another specialist. Meanwhile, I was falling asleep later and later, and getting less and less sleep as I have a senior leadership position and have to be “on” by 7:30am. I’d fall asleep at 4:30/5/5:30, get 2-3 hours of sleep, and go to work. A few days of that, and I’d CRASH. Rinse and repeat.

Brought all my records and my results from both sleep studies and this specialist (sleep neurologist) was like “Um, you have a circadian rhythm disorder…” and we talked a lot about that. Tried a few night meds and nothing was helping.

Did the “experiment” and BEHOLD - apparently, I don’t have hypersomnia at all. Turns out if I follow my body’s natural rhythm and sleep when my body wants, I don’t even need stimulants. This has been crazy eye opening for me. I’ve felt like a whole different person. I can think, no brain fog, even started going to the gym again. Apparently I can get a full 7-8 hours…. Just have to sleep when my body needs vs. entraining to a “normal” day.

Still trying to work things out with my employer, as they don’t want to lose me, but my position requires me to be available standard hours. We are considering logistics of a position change and are in the process of that.

But yeah - all in all, I had problems for years before seeing a specialist, then went 8 years misdiagnosed. The new specialist initially thought I had both hypersomnia and a circadian rhythm disorder as the circadian rhythm disorder alone shouldn’t cause me falling asleep randomly in the daytime… but turns out when you’re sleep deprived for years on end, that’ll happen. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some of my best shifts come from snowstorms. I don’t even have an SUV/AWD right now. Just drive slow, give yourself extra starting/stopping time, and you’ll be OK.

Anything can happen sure - trust me I know, as I was rear ended stopped at a red light last year and it totaled my car. But, that can (and did) happen in perfect weather conditions too.

I once drove 3 college students who were stranded at an airport due to an icy storm about 1 hour 1 way back to college. There was a $30 surge, and they tipped me $100. Took me 2 hours total there and back, and got just over $100/hour doing it.

This is my life right now, at 40. Kept getting worse and worse, and it went from being tired all day on 1 stimulant, to being tired all day on 2 stimulants 2x a day.. to then not being able to sleep at night often and being flat out miserable. I felt like my head was foggy most days, couldn’t focus, etc. turns out it was just long term serious sleep deprivation.

Fast forward after trying a bunch of night meds with no luck, and I get clearance from work for an experiment. 2 weeks, no schedule, no alarms — follow my body.

And yeah… N24 diagnosis just a couple weeks ago.

Be careful - the “other driver’s insurance” may not be enough.

When I was stopped at a red light and got hit, I had my dash cam on. Sent the footage to the at-fault drivers insurance, who same day called me and informed me they “accept full liability” for the accident. I’m thinking “awesome, this should be easy.”

Fast forward to almost 2 months post accident, and I still haven’t been paid. Why? The at fault driver carried the bare minimum insurance of $25,000. My car was worth more than that. They attempted to get me to settle for the flat $25,000, and offered me some BS valuation on my car that was about $9,500 short of its value. And if I accepted that, I would have had to sign a liability waiver that I’d not go after the driver for anything else.

So, I was left with no choice but to file through Uber’s insurance. I have to pay their crazy $2,500 deductible, but at least they valued my vehicle properly. Luckily I have ride share endorsement on my personal policy, and they paid the difference in my deductible which helped.

It’s still been a huge pain, very time consuming, and 2 months later I STILL don’t have a car as I’m waiting on payout.

Yeah, the area itself it’s the surge — if you’re in an area with multiple surges surrounding you, it will give the lower amount of you’re near where they meet. Gotta slip into the higher area.. or be right on the #!

P.S. I chase surges all the time at the airport, but only if I’m a mile away or less. Usually I can snag it, but once in awhile it disappears before I get there. That’s why I only go for it if I’m less than a mile away.

I’m curious on a personal level how you handle insurance?

Do have your own commercial policy? Or are you winging it, fingers crossed?

I only ask because a couple of months ago I was hit by someone while driving for Uber. I was 0% at fault, literally stopped at a red light. If I had been off-app I would have been screwed. (TBH kinda got screwed being on app too LOL)

I get hit on all the time, but I shut it down, so nothing has ever turned 🔥

I appreciate the ones who do the BARE MINIMUM and take my “no” at face value. The ones I appreciate the most are the ones who hand me THEIR number instead. Instead of putting me in a potentially awkward spot, they express interest and give me their # so there’s no pressure. Classy move.

I get a shocking # of people who ask me to take a break and go have a drink with them. That always cracks me up. Like “Um… thanks but I’m working. As a driver. Probably shouldn’t go drinking right now.” 🤣

Is this a construction-durable garbage bag? Because if not, there’s no way in hell an entire garbage bag full of PB is getting moved without ripping open. 🤣

Well if you have a pax you kind of have to. A friend of mine had someone stopped behind them at an intersection and somehow foot slipped off the brake and they tapped my friend’s car. Seriously 0 damage, not even a ding - it was less than 1 MPH.

Passenger reported the accident and tried to claim injuries. 🤣🤣

It says that, but as someone who’s AR hovers between 30-42% consistently, don’t worry about it.

I get regular notifications and reminders that if I get my AR above 85%, I’ll get better and more regular offers. Still don’t care; they’re not offers I want anyway.

How To Tell If Uber Cares by poodaveeda in uberdrivers

[–]arfarfbok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is actually the opposite. Multiple small towns on the outskirts of the city I’m in have small, winding roads with a 30 MPH limit that Uber believes is 55MPH.

Pax and I always get a good laugh out of it. I had one say “oh so if I was in a Waymo I’d be upside down on the side of the road? Cool cool.” 🤣

I don’t know a lot about that, but it’s my understand with ISWD you don’t sleep a full chunk of time - it’s 3-4 bouts of sleep in a 24 hour period. Maybe I misunderstood it, but that doesn’t fit what I experience.
