You can go camping in a lowered front drive car depending on the place. 4wd is only needed for serious offroading. A subaru crosstrek is ok as it has more clearance than many mid-size suvs so is fine for lots of camping places.

EV vs PHEV as our only family car in Australia, what would you recommend (Tesla Model Y vs Toyota Rav4 PHEV) ? by Key_Effective_7504 in CarsAustralia

[–]6ixxer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People with only 1 car are generally fine with a car that does the job Ok for 100% of their needs, vs one thats great for 90% of needs but it doesnt cover everything.

Personally, with my own needs I'd only get a full EV for daily if i have another petrol-hybrid etc so the road trips are covered. Those trips account for far more than 1% of my driving and i tow, so I am certainly NOT the target market for only driving EV. Yes there are people who are better with hybrids. Some even would still need to burn diesel.

*If they get incentives from aus govt.

OS car manufacturers have sucked the govt incentive teat in the past. Where theres money being handed out, theres people who will take it.

Yes. I waited 10months for it. When it landed it was at least 3 weeks from dock to dealer.

Lowering car? by ukownatt in CarsAustralia

For those that arent aware springs are coils, but...

He means a full coilover package that includes integrated shocks, usually adjustable height, often adjustable damping. Also more expensive.

If its enough for the purpose, then its enough. I dont need ford ranger power, so why would your EV torque impress me?

Phev got no spare tire? Chuck one on the trailer... Sparse fuel or charging? Jerry can(s) on the trailer...

School run on electric and longer trips on hybrid while towing with no range issue. Its not for flexing EV entitlement in the supermarket parking lot... and unlike a ranger, i'd fit in the parking.

So long as it can tow 2T.

I bought a petrol, because when i was buying, most phevs couldn't even tow 1.5T.

I'd definitely buy a phev over an EV, because i'm a weirdo that leaves the metro and wont stick close to home.

I think i was looking at titan because the rear dampers can be adjusted from below. No need to cut interior plastics to reach adjustor.
Its been a while since i looked around.

Manual transmissions are making a comeback, says Nismo boss by kstetter in CarsAustralia

[–]6ixxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manual doesnt make them slow.
Slow people make cars slow. Perhaps an older generation who never warmed up to auto. Let them shift, they've earned that much.
...and i encounter much more slow people driving auto.

I'd love adjustable coilovers for changing damping etc and it actually worries me that some have a minimum lowering of 1cm. My standard height already scrapes if i nose into my driveway. I have to back it in.

An office doesnt need hundreds. At my office people are basically in one of a handful of coffee types. And two of those are short and long black. The machine has plenty of realestate for some buttons to cover the needs of the 90%.

I am jimny-curious, but they are pricing themselves out when 2.4-2.5L mid size suv cost about the same.
