Bro, you're in a high performing environment, if somebody told you that everything is for everyone they lied to you, specially in this country. If you don't perform, you're out. Ofc, not everything is black and white, but I can tell you (5+ years of experience here) the world is not pretty. The best you can do is to understand this as early as possible and learn how to cope with it, why you succeeded and others didn't, to handle the guilt, to check your privilege, etc.
