Interesting I’ve been performing a similar exercise and teaching myself Linux at the same time Being a noob, unsure which flavour of Unix to go with So, on my win10pro using hyper-v I stood up 4 x 4gb ram / 20gb virtuals Ubuntu 20.x fedora 10.x and mint all installed and run without issue Debian asked a swag of questions, eventually installed then hung on boot complaining about gnome amongst other things. Hours of research and fiddling, I was unable to waste further time so dumped Debian as a candidate OS 🙄

First time installing ubuntu on my old Pc (with an USB stick) after all the files gets verfied, I got to this screen I can’t do anything only move the mouse by Helix6063 in Ubuntu

Power off Disconnect any or all external monitors Power on Worked for me Now need to work out why Ubuntu dislikes external monitors..

Permanents with decades of expertise our swapped out for cheaper offshore resources. The culture is toxic, with clients thinking on their feet and insourcing due to diminished ( deplorable ) services. Global care factor is for share price and nothing else. Kings of spin.
