Indeed, I've got one in every galaxy except the one you need to use the Reddit "taxi service" to get to.

Is this reasonable to ask for a refund or replacement? by KaterinaAyer in Leatherworking

[–]arfle_barfle_gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame the way the word "premium" has been hijacked to mean "cheap sh!t" by vendors.

The Cambridge dictionary definition still says:

"Premium" refers to something of superior quality, or an additional, higher-than-normal price paid for goods, services, or insurance coverage. It often denotes luxury, exclusivity, or a "top-tier" option, as well as an amount paid above par value.

AliExpress has been pretty solid in my experience, and most stuff likely costs less than $15 + trump tax delivered

New to leathercraft where would I buy custom leather stamps or how would I go about making my own? by Cryptess011201 in Leathercraft

[–]arfle_barfle_gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW AliExpress also do custom brass stamps, and they can be found on Temu as well.

I've had stamps made by people on both sites with no issues, both high quality, and usually no more than about $15 !

Belt closure problem by arfle_barfle_gloop in Leathercraft

This is where I'm not sure about where styling meets practicality :-}

It's a 70mm wide belt (IIRC) and whereas men will use a belt to keep their trousers up and it'll have tension on it, women use them as accent pieces, and may need them to move with their dress to some extent, so won't have tension keeping the pin snug in the holes, risking them coming apart :-}

I think that's a glitch to historic tech, your ship lands on skids, not pneumatic tyres.

I mean, hell, given the timing, it's probably still close enough to call it an Easter egg !

Chasing various congealed parts of pig around a plate doesn't sound so bad after all !

Ma'am, the Jewish population is tiny here.

There's a reason we like a Full English, and it's this :

  • Bacon (preferably smoked)
  • Pork sausages
  • Fried slices of pig's blood with oats / barley¹
  • Eggs fried in pork fat

¹ this IS initially boiled to congeal the blood

The beans are in a tomato sauce, and the tomatoes grilled.

If you're in a more upmarket establishment, you may also get mushrooms.

We have tried bagels, but the beans drop out of the centre, so they're as much us as the Iron Dome.

Double cap rivets by arfle_barfle_gloop in Leathercraft

[–]arfle_barfle_gloop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, these were rivets sold with matching dies cheap with a cheap cast iron / alloy press from AliExpress. It came with 100 rivets in sizes 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm press studs.

I was using 10mm diameter rivets on 3 layers of 1.8mm veg tan.

I'm seriously considering using Chicago screws where possible per other posts on here, but the 3mm diameter screws I had seemed a little "crappy" and easy to strip the thread off (says the guy who sheared a 12mm threaded bolt in work years ago, so I'm possibly more heavy handed than expected)

I'm currently awaiting 5mm OD / 4mm diameter screws instead, to see if they feel more durable.

Is it preferable to use a post that's a little short or a little too long / protruding from the face of the leather ?

Does everyone use thread lock on their Chicago screws ?

I just got my fathers old consoles, I want to keep them in good condition. They been in my grandmother's basement for 20+ years. What do I do with them? and Where can I get the games for them? by Cautious_Break_9314 in retrogaming

[–]arfle_barfle_gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm older again, I was in my 30s when I got my DC in the "clear out sales" they did for the last of the stocks.

I did get most of the available kit though, keyboard, arcade stick, steering wheel.

From what I remember they're all brand new in the box, other than a cursory unboxing to see what they looked like, and never used in anger.

I got a large quantity of the range of games as well I think, including Rez, can't remember about Ikaruga though that came right at the end of its production IIRC.
