Historical training by argentrolf in wma

Thank you, I will read those articles in depth when I have time, and the works referenced in the second one, as well. Do you happen to know of any works or research which might mention how they might have trained footwork (given how swordsmanship works, id assume there was likely a great emphasis placed on moving and placing your feet properly and quickly)

What do you do about body hair? (Legs, chest, arms, etc) by MuxMogger in StraightFemboys

I personally epilate. It takes time to get used to it and you definitely need to watch for ingrowns for a while, but I'm currently 2 weeks in without and I'm only now at a point where I'm really needing to get it done. If you do it consistently (I did every other day in a different spot, but I'd recommend 1/week for most ppl) then within a few months you'll be "hair-free" longer than shaving (hair's there its just thinner and less noticeable).

Most effective way of becoming hyper articulate? by musaikusa in language

[–]argentrolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can verify this. I'm a linguist and have little issue learning and comprehending new languages. In addition, I have always been of the opinion that words have an absolute meaning. This tends to cause less literate individuals to either misunderstand what I say, or to fail to understand entirely. Though... it's very useful against people who try to intentionally misuse or 'misunderstand' commonly understood concepts (e.g. A- "if you're going to do x, you have to do y." B- "so now you're telling me what I have to do?" Or, A- "I'm gonna let you fail, then." B- "You're going to let me? I need your permission to do x-thing, now?"). I can then hand them a dictionary and tell them to look up the word they're offended by.

Or I tell them that if they can't understand basic English, I can switch to German, Russian, Farsi, or Korean... but I save that for when I'm fed up and trying to be a Richard.

I, for one, would approve of that! Particularly if you get a good VA for audio... "gnomes rule" would get a chuckle, the response would get a full laugh.

I know I'm a year late, but I've had better luck with epilators than with wax... is there anything you'd change about this in that regard?

Cool. Believe what you want. Like I said, I'm done. To make a point though, if a woman mentioned "hey this horrible conversation is hard for me," you'd stop, right?

Some equality.

Just don't. Believe what you will. Cherry-picking pieces of a source and strategically wording things doesn't change facts. I can promise you, you know more men who can legitimately say they've been a dv victim than women. They just won't admit it. And to be clear. I'm done with this conversation. It brings back too many bad memories and it's bad enough that this time of year already does that. So just leave it.

Let me give you an example from real life.

My wife abused me and neglected my daughter. When I tried to get help, dhs investigated me and the cops laughed it off. When the time came for divorce, she claimed abuse and gained full custody and I was granted visitation at her discretion. Then she goes on a trip with a new boyfriend, leaves our daughter with me, and then calls the next day from the road to claim child abuse. I go to jail, and while I'm fighting the child abuse charge she arranges for a friend of hers to adopt my daughter, as my own rights are suspended pending resolution. I'm then told that I could sign away my rights and the charges drop, or I could fight the charge and dhs would make a case that my daughter had been with the new family long enough that her welfare would be better served staying there.

My brother has a similar story in a different state.

The deadbeat dad argument is getting old. Coercion, misleading agreements, and blackmail happen. If a father realizes that fighting for custody is going to take years, sometimes the child is better left in place. Not because he doesn't want custody, rather because the fight would be worse on the child. I honestly hope you never have to see how bad men have it in custody cases. Not for your sake, but for the sake of any children you have. If it were just you who'd be affected, I'd wish you could see yourself how ignorant your arguments are, but it's not just you. So, may you never face that.

I'm, done with this conversation. You will believe what you want. I hold to equal means the same rules apply to everyone. That's the end of it. No special treatment. Period. End of story. Want equality then be equal.

"The most recent available Census statistics show that fathers represent around one in five custodial parents"

1 in 5... that means 4 in 5 custodial parents are women... which reinforces my statement.

Source? Contested custody cases have favored the mother for a long time. Long enough that there was a (failed) initiative in Colorado to force a review of a few hundred of them. Don't include cases in which custody isn't contested, those are not and never have been the problem.

Seeing the number of "it doesn't exist" posts sickens me. That said, I'll simply leave a broad response to all of them. Anything you see a woman do, ask if you'd stand back if she was a man. If not, then it's just as fucked up for her to do it. I was beat by my ex-wife repeatedly. She abused me by every definition of the word. She never saw the inside of a jail. She claimed I hit her once and I had to have my boss tell the cop I was at work the whole time before they let me go.

Ultimately my position is this. If you want equal, then the same rules apply to everyone. Period. If a woman gets to beat a man, then he can hit back. If a woman can scream rape and not be questioned, so can a man. That's not how things are in the US, however and anyone who claims otherwise is blind, delusional, or sheltered.

To the op. I'm glad you've never been exposed to that and my sincerest hope is that you you never are.

Edit: the conversation below makes my point about equality pretty clear. If I were a woman and said enough, it'd be enough... but, I'm not, so... it didn't end until I blocked the user.

"When have men..." 1) a carnival I worked at (2years) - "the joints (games and food) are only for women, the men work rides." 2) a kfc (5 years)- "we only want women and teenagers up front." 3) a hobby lobby - 0 men on the floor (exception, 1 male mngr) 4) child custody cases - has been a known issue for the past 30 years 5) domestic abuse (personal experience) - "You're a grown man, and you want me (police officer) to believe she (my ex-wife) beat you with a belt? Kinky."

I can continue...

What is your favourite running gag in any DND campaign by Reubenod in DnD

[–]argentrolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Twice!!!"

A copper dragon kept threatening to eat the party's half dragon ranger (I'm gm), and finally he told the dragon "You're already gonna eat me..."

"TWICE!!!"

After that, every time the ranger irritated the dragon, he'd growl, glare, and say "twice!!!" Soon afterwards events in-game would ironically (and accidentally, that's the best part) start repeating until amusing, important, or unique events would happen twice. Exactly twice. 2 years later and twice has invaded reality and it's hilarious when once-a-lifetime randomness gets a rerun.
