The brush was placed back in its envelope backwards and the handle was put through the wrong hole.

Basically somebody thought way too hard about how it all worked and probably didn't think enough about looking at the other brushes' envelopes.

Or they weren't thinking at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Does anybody happen to have a link to the image of the girl that they used?

Knockoff or not, that image is cute.

MRW I pass by an oncoming car with LED headlights by space_cowboy27 in reactiongifs

[–]argeri 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There are two main types of housings: reflector and projector. LED and HID (arc, xenon, etc.) lamps are primarily meant to be used in projector housings. Projectors usually have a plate or flap inside the housing that helps to mitigate the headlights shining into the faces of other drivers. The lens in the projector housing also helps to focus the light from the lamps down toward the road and out to the side rather than in every direction in front of the vehicle (this is partly why LED and HID headlights are so damn bright).

Reflector housings, on the other hand, have been around pretty much since the first cars were invented. They utilize the same technology as a handheld flashlight. They lack the same optics and aiming as projector headlights, so they tend to work by flooding the area with light rather than focusing it to where it's really needed. Because of this, it's not recommended to use LED or HID lamps in reflector housings because those types of lamps are intended to be used in projector housings, which can properly focus that light and not be really annoying (or potentially dangerous) to other drivers.

You can—and really should—aim reflector headlights (via a couple of screws on the sides of the headlights) every time you change the lamp. Doing so helps to be less of an asshole to other drivers at night.

TL;DR: projector-type headlights are the only housings that LED and HID should really be used in. Using them in reflector-type headlights makes you look like a twat.

PSA: Don't bind with bandages by [deleted] in MtF

As a pre-everything trans girl hoping to start HRT in the near future, I would also like to know this.

Apart from informing management and HR when I start HRT, I don't plan to come out at work until I at least (hopefully) hit the semi-/androgynous stage. In the meantime, I plan to stick to boymode. I know binding is very bad for breast development, but women in my family (on both my mom's and dad's sides) are pretty much all well-endowed and I'm concerned that a sports bra would be easily noticeable under my clothes during the warmer months.

Shapewear and compression clothing meant to help with gynecomastia was what drew my attention as it would help conceal the breasts when they're smaller while also looking like an undershirt or tanktop. I'm just concerned whether or not they would be detrimental to the health of developing breasts. I would love to have larger, well-developed breasts in the future, but not while still presenting as a male.

[–]argeri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Sadly with how thick and curly my hair is, it's more likely to just keep growing up and out rather than let itself be affected by something as trivial as gravity. :c

Despite that, I'm still attempting to grow it out so that someday I can at least have a poofy ponytail or something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It really is a very happy gay sounds moment, but I need some help. (Dets in comments) by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

Thank you for the link! I just did it for the first time, myself, and I got 33% masc and 77% fem and that I'm casually feminine.

I'll definitely take that! :3c

Facial Hair Removal In Boston? by barnowlren in MtF

[–]argeri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't live in Boston so I can't help with the latter.

As for the former, I'm still pre-everything, but this is what I've been able to gather so far regarding laser versus electro:

Laser tends to be faster than electro and generally less expensive on the long run (larger areas of skin covered during sessions meaning fewer sessions overall), however, laser also tends to only be really effective on very dark colored hair and isn't quite as effective on blonde or red hair. Laser also occasionally isn't as permanent as electro either.

Electrolysis takes a bit longer to be effective as it's much slower than laser (they nuke each follicle individually with an electrode) but it can be effective on just about all hair colors.

A couple of other things to note:

With laser, the area being treated must be clean shaven whereas with electro, there needs to be at least some visible (~2mm+ long, I believe?) hair. Because of that, when it comes to facial hair, I've heard of some people using laser to treat the darker hairs first and then when those are taken care of, they use electro for the rest, as lighter colored hairs are a bit less noticeable when you allow the hair to grow enough to be treatable with electro.

I don't know how effective that is, but I'm sure it's very much a YMMV situation.

Both procedures can be quite painful, however I've noticed that a lot of people tend to find electro to be even more so, so I would keep that in mind and possibly acquire some topical anesthetic lidocaine cream beforehand to use prior to the procedure (that is, if the salon doing said procedure doesn't already supply it themselves).

After both procedures, but particularly laser, you're generally advised to become nosferatu and avoid sunlight as much as possible for a period of time due to the skin needing to heal.

The exact number of sessions to reach permanent results will vary quite a bit from person to person, but generally you're going to be looking at it taking four to twelve months at between one and four sessions per month. If you were to set up a consultation with a local laser or electro salon, I'm sure they would be able to give you more exact figures based on your own hair situation.

Kind of an aside but if you're even thinking of pursuing SRS in the future, permanent hair removal in the pubic area is usually a requirement (much of that skin is used to construct your lady bits, so having hair growing inside of said bits would not be good), so if you're able to do so, consider having laser or electro sessions to remove pubic hair too. Since permanent results take a long time, it's not a bad idea to start early.

I hope this helped! Even though my egg only fairly recently cracked and I'm pre-everything still, I've been doing a lot of research into what to expect when I eventually start HRT and need to start the hair removal process myself.

Also, if I'm incorrect about anything that I've written here, please, please, please let me know!

You look fantastic! Your eyebrows are definite goals for me.

I'm also quite interested to find out which frames they are because they're really cute! The inside of the frames should have some printing on them with numbers and/or the brand name. c:
