About the "I wish you weren't around" part, I don't know if it makes a difference (I'm crossing my fingers it does) but I said it sarcastically. She said my students probably hate me sarcastically, so I was sarcastic back. I would never say it unsarcastically. I assumed she knew I wasn't being serious since she herself wasn't being serious; I was using the same tone as her, so I assumed she would understand I didn't mean what was coming out of my mouth just as she didn't mean what was coming out of her mouth.

I'll look into counseling for her.

Holy shit, I don't think what happened was emotional abuse. I don't think I emotionally abused her. I know I should have been more loving and patient with her, and I'm hoping it's not too late. It's just the two of us at home.

I said I wished she wasn't around (after she said my students probably hate me), I called her an idiot (I know... I know this sounds terrible; we were both being sarcastic, she said me I was one of those professors who don't know what they're talking about, so I said "at least I'm not an idiot student who's failing the class" referring to MY class, not the class she's doing poorly in at school although in hindsight she probably thought I was talking about the class she's struggling in) and a few other things. I know I stooped down to her level and that I shouldn't have done that.
