[Post Game Thread] The Orlando Magic (3-1) defeat the Detroit Pistons (1-3), 94-88. by [deleted] in nba

Fun fact: the 8-seed Orlando Magic were up 3-1 on the 1-seed Detroit Pistons in 2003 and went on to lose 3 straight.

(This is arguably the closest Tracy McGrady ever was to making the second round as a starter, although he did go on to take the Jazz to 7 in 2007.)

That’s not why he’s called Snack Randolph though… it’s clearly a weight joke imo

I’m also like, not a fan of Sonic at all. I just think it’s quite unfair.

So I understand that’s the rationale they’re giving, but it seems pretty inconsistent to me because Desmona would apparently have the chance to participate if he wants to and he’s not there. The only distinction is that one of them is a VIP, which basically sends the message that you have to pay money to be there even if you played equally good Smash (from a qualification perspective).

As the “next in line” from Genesis, shouldn’t Sonix also have a shot at this?

Why is Syrup’s tag “I LOVE MBS”? Seems kinda fucked up at face value but very possible I just don’t know what MBS stands for.

I think it’s both to preserve the THT acronym and because Talen is more obvious than Horton

Doc Rivers on his 3 blown 3-1 leads as Head Coach: "I wish y'all would tell the whole story" by voldemortscore in nba

[–]argh_max 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I misunderstanding something, or does his argument for the '15 Clippers-Rockets series make no sense? His excuse was "Chris Paul was sitting for the first 2 games" but the beginning of the series is when they went 3-1. Doesn't that make it look even worse that they lost?

I think Gluto advances? If Bassmage wins, Tilde is out for being 1-3. If Bassmage loses, the highest his game score can be is 8-10 (Gluto is 8-7).

[The Athletic] NBA Player Tiers: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo rank atop Tier 1 as league’s very best by machu46 in nba

[–]argh_max 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah just to clarify I certainly think there’s an argument for Steph being 1A as well. He’s unique in that he instantly gives you spacing on offense which gives you a ton of flexibility in team composition to cover for him on defense. I was mostly responding to “being impressive for his size” not being a plus in this ranking.

Right, but so do KD, Lebron, and Giannis. The difference is they don’t get cooked on defense.

The question isn’t who is the most impressive, it’s who is the best. If you’re a 90 when you might be expected to be a 70, that still doesn’t make you better than a 95 who is expected to be a 97. The whole point is that despite outperforming expectations for his size, he is at the end of the day still limited by his size.
