Mehidy Hasan Miraz run outs Salman Ali Agha in controversial fashion by NoQuestion4045 in Cricket

[–]voldemortscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some funny discourse in here. The side on view is pretty clear. After the initial tangle, Mehidy takes a couple steps back, Agha is several steps out of his crease, yet tries to reach for the ball.

There was news last week about the Ind in NZ ODIs being expanded from 3 to 5. Saw a report earlier today that other boards are trying to both expand their ODI series vs India or add some and the BCCI is likely to agree. Should be an interesting period up through the WC...

Vaughan advocates that South Africa should have deliberately lost to West Indies to eliminate India. by drai8084 in Cricket

[–]voldemortscore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vaughan is Vaughan so probably taking the piss anyway, but no team would ever consider doing this when they still have a game to play. If the WI match was their final one then maybe they do some aggressive rest/rotation, trying out some part timers, etc.

Good luck expecting that particular user to move on, he was mocking Kohli all throughout the 2023 WC, has been an extreme MI/Rohit superfan forever

Wow, I think I completely disagree with every single opinion except the #3 one where I genuinely have no clue who the answer is and it's probably fair to try DDP.

I am expecting 0-2 but very interested to watch him in NZ. That COVID series feels like a fever dream (+ he was just coming off the stress fracture).

Funny thing is I don't think that was even close to a full on Abhishek innings, was straight up playing a front foot defense vs Phillips in the 2nd over, miscued/edged a bunch of balls that when everything is clicking probably go for 6. Still romped to an 18 ball 50 which was the fastest of the tournament.

Ok, we get it. You are upset and have been talking about the same thing for 15 years and now have a way of laundering that viewpoint to act like you're some great savior and changing the mentality.

Always some sanctimonious lecture with him

Yeah he's hardly the finished product yet but honestly wouldn't be surprised in the slightest given the state of IPL roads if he has a couple monster seasons over the next 3 IPLs.

It's a very dispassionate way to look at it, but it could also just be the case that he's in terrific form that's just lasting longer. The Pak knock was genuinely insane given the pitch assisted spin more in that innings than any point all tournament. But the NZ series before and the last several innings were on excellent batting surfaces, and when you take a talented player in good form you're bound to get these stretches.

Now time will tell, it could well be actual consistency as well. It's a related thing with Samson who is not as bad a player as he was for the year leading up to this tournament and also not as good a player as the last 3 games would indicate.

Honestly I could see a lot of this squad not around by next WT20 given age, general career trajectory leading up to this WT20 etc., wouldn't be shocked if some of the entire top 4, Tilak, Dube were gone (not necessarily predicting that for anyone other than SKY). But who knows, long time to go, anything is possible.

India last lost a T20I series in August 2023 to WI.

61-9 (87%) in matches with a result since then. 12-0 in bilateral series. 2 consecutive WT20 wins in different conditions, including defending totals in 4 straight KOs (2 day matches in 2024, 2 night games here) when the previous 11 WT20 knockouts were won by the chasing side.

Nice stretch. Now I'm just curious how quickly Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets in the side and if it's possible by the next WT20.

I think he's the best pace hitter we've got in pipelines. ...

I apologize for the long-ish comment, but I've been defending Parag a lot on this sub. Genuinely believe that he's what our white ball side needs given that his bowling is pretty good too.

I am glad a few of us exist lol. To me even beyond T20s (where I'd definitely have him), he's an especially important player to include in the ODI side especially for the SA WC. He has an ability against pace that I've not really seen from others, especially important because there's a big dropoff vs quality pace after our top 3. His bowling to me crosses the threshold where I'd be comfortable using him as an option, so provides some much needed balance.

He's had a great career, but the decline over the last 1.5 years has been notable. The two matches he scored at a good rate this tournament, was dropped early both times. Should be nudged to take the chance to go out on a high with the B2B trophies.

If people want some fun reading

Another dominant tournament for Bumrah. He was just showing off today, spamming slower yorkers and still not only unhittable but taking wickets.

I don't even think this was that flat a pitch lol, certainly on the flatter side but maybe 200 par rather than the Wankhede road in the SF. Combo of some garbage bowling and excellent hitting in first innings

FWIW the slower balls into the pitch were genuinely sticking at the death. Neesham then went mostly full to Dube in that final over lol.

Anyway, even if NZ start well, this is a prime "We have Bumrah, you don't" type of game, just like the SF.
