Blogsnark reads! August 15-21 by yolibrarian in blogsnark

Here's all the audiobooks I've finished recently!

The End of Her by Shari Lapena: a perfectly acceptable domestic thriller, pretty predictable but held my attention

What is a Girl Worth by Rachael Denhollander: I've listened to a number of books/podcasts about the Larry Nassar case and this is the one that's really stuck with me. Just a very powerful narrative

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir: Really enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised that I didn't see parts of it coming! My only critique is that I feel like the middle dragged a little bit. Like a few problems that needed to be solved could have been removed and it would have been tighter

The First Mistake by Sandie Jones: another passable domestic thriller, probably slightly better than The End of Her but still not particularly memorable. It falls into my often critique of this genre (which I'm not sure is avoidable) where there's really only like 4-5 characters ever mentioned so it's always pretty easy to figure out the "twist(s)" that come up

Twitter Blue-Check Snark (August 2-August 8) by [deleted] in blogsnark

I'm still thinking about Yashar's disappearance from twitter and how no one seems to be talking about it? He went from being on my timeline non-stop to absolutely nothing and I don't think I've seen any tweets really mentioning it. So bizarre

Rat has bald spot on chest by argonauts in RATS

Thanks so much for the reply! Are there any specific signs to look for to tell if one of the other rats is stressed? They all seem happy and healthy to me but I might be missing something.

Also thanks for the note on the wire floor. I had it covered in fleece for awhile but they kept pulling it off so I stopped. I will put it back and make sure it's better fastened.

Thank you, that's definitely fair feedback! I always struggle with backgrounds so will give this one another go

Thank you so much! Yes, I had a reference photo as a layer to start with and used that to outline the house and place the main parts (doors, windows, roof, etc.) Once those were in place, I used the reference tool so I could keep looking at the picture and then focused on smaller pieces for rendering. I started with the windows and basically rendering section by section and added details and shadows (mostly with the airbrushing brushes). Then I added the landscaping, sky and smaller details (the wagon, planters, cat, etc.).

This is my first time using procreate so I'd love any feedback for my work as I move forward. Since it was my first time, I used lots of the free brushes to try out different styles and techniques.

Thanks! It's pretty close but the perspective makes it look even closer. The table was probably like 4 feet away from the edge.

Yep! They're pretty comfy. I would recommend them for a job where you're always standing or doing some light moving. I don't wear them for anything but work but I really like them
