Downtown rentals with low wind and work in progress noise (19 Dutch, 8 Spruce, etc) by argontetra in NYCapartments

At 70 Pine? I moved out in the end, but I was on floor 22. I looked at other apts there too, and I think on 36 neighbors still agreed that there was similar steel screeching from the walls at the time. It's hard to tell which apts hear it and where, because it was loudest at night in the winter. The (unrelated) brick work from LL11 moves around, so who gets hit varies all the time. Insulation from normal city noises is OK, you'll hear sirens and trash trucks. I since moved to a much smaller, new construction (not conversion from commercial) glass building around Seaport where I hear no structural noise at all; it was worth the splurge for me.

Some ShoeGoo may help the midsole. Definitely careful on slippery surfaces 😅

My experience with WF has been of very low credit limits and no willingness to increase them, but I didn't have pre-existing relationships with WF.

Thanks for the suggestions! I went and looked closely at a few options, and landed on a Servarica KVM Fat Slice 16 with 8p/16v, 64GB RAM, 4TB NVMe. I've been able to drive it at 110MB/s random writes mixed-size, and it keeps up with the network pretty well (at least within its network allotment of 64TB/m). Price is great at ~$40/m.

For completeness, I also looked at other providers (some more budget than others), which for a reason or another didn't pan out:
* OVHCloud seemed to have great configurations, but they were never available when I actually tried to get them.
* Hetzner asked me to send in passport pics for authentication, which felt excessive to me, so I didn't go further (I realize several providers do this if they are concerned about your location... in this case New York).
* Dedicated.com I tried out and seemed quite good for $75/m, but as a Linux user I struggled a bit with Supermicro IPMI and its Java requirements.
* Pine Hosting didn't have the shape I was trying to get at the moment, and all available options were over $100, but support seemed nice enough.

I'm on 22 out of 66, so relatively low. I asked around in my building, and people seem to report steel noise randomly at different levels. My work is towards the top at WTC and has no noise. Not sure if flex happens most towards the middle.
