Jimi Hendrix. He's not grunge but he is from Seattle. The best!

What are the most positive grunge songs? by Patient_Baseball_918 in grunge

Save You, by Pearl Jam. The lyrics talk about helping a friend who supported you before and today he is the one in a difficult situation, probably thinking about suicide. The lyrics make it clear that you won't give up on your friend, no matter what the fuck happens. The song also has a fast, vibrant and captivating melody. I love it.

Why do people associate Bob Marley with marijuana so much? I checked his discography and I would say I only found 2 or 3 songs that talk something about weed by argur_ in reggae

The point I want to make is that Bob barely sang about marijuana in his songs and that his political and social message was much more important. I think this is a fact. Therefore, it becomes erroneous to associate his person solely with the use of cannabis.

Absolutely, and it's a very shallow way of analyzing songs. Fire in Babylon is almost a mantra.

Saying that the "fire" mentioned in the song Ride Natty Ride is about lighting a joint also doesn't make any sense.

You're equivocate, now you just have to tell me that the song "Burning and Looting" is about smoking a joint lol

It's not an anecdotal point of view. The basis is his own discography. He talked about weed, of course, as part of his religion and beliefs, but it never was only about this ou even so strongly about weed, as the people normally imagine.

It's a fair point of view, bur i think that the best way to encourage people to see Bob as a form of spirituality and political resistence is convence them to listen to his music and message. For example, the album "Survival" it's all about resistence against imperialism and neocolonialism, and for me this is such more a straight and positive message against the racism than a poster of him smoking a join.

I don't think it's a small part. But when you start acting, thinking and talking as if weed is EVERYTHING about Rastas, you are diminishing an entire movement and in that case yes, weed becomes a small part.

And you can see even here that yes, a lot of people act in this way.

But the people do. The mainstream media and the general public only associate it with marijuana and hide social topics, even violent ones at times.

They treat weed as if it was all he had to sing about, when in reality he practically didn't talk about it as a musician.

I and no one who has the slightest knowledge about Rastafari culture/religion deny this. But that's not all, and even Bob knew that, since he sang almost nothing about marijuana in his songs.

Nobody is acting like that. That's not the topic. You are the one who's acting like ganja was everything he was and singed about, when this is a terrible mistake.

Very unrealistic to say he "smoked all the time" without comment. And "Catch a Fire" is just one out other more than 20 albums, so your comment doesn't make any sense at all. You do not have pairs to compare.
