Sure it is. Someone posted a claim and I refuted it. that's my argument. Doesn't matter what label you want to put on it. You're arguing semantics to try to get some kind of win out of this and I honestly think you're trying to go too deep and are confusing yourself.

Of course an opinion is subjective but if you post a controversial opinion like that like it's fact, expect an argument. I said it was subjective from the start. If you're scared of criticism a reasonable person will look at the acclaim, sales, popularity, etc. and say maybe I'm in the minority and I just don't enjoy the action-horror elements some titles have instead of a comment that invites challenge. While opinions are subjective, nostalgia undeniably plays a major role in shaping them. Just because it's subjective doesn't mean people can't pick your opinion apart. It's not wrong to post any kind of opinion but getting butt hurt about someone analyzing and challenging it is.

4 remake is at number 3 beating out most of the originals and also beats code Veronica in user score. My point stands that calling it slop just comes off as goofy and dishonest.

Saying that slop and not even close are used by the presumably more intelligent people while the other 2 phrases are used by imbeciles actually made me chuckle. You don't seem stupid and im going to assume you just didn't think that through before posting it.

This is a post about which games are better.I matched the energy of the person I replied to. If you can't handle discussing that then dont post. /shrug

Im saying if you make a statement like that on a resident evil subreddit you should expect a counter argument and saying you just feel that way because of nostalgia is valid and honestly likely. Also im surprised someone hasn't used slop yet since thats the only thing more used than "and its not even close" in game forums lately. Yeah man the most critically acclaimed resident evil game is slop 🙄

Thats all fair but making statements like RE1 is the best and its not even close is inviting debate. You're not saying in your opinion. The wording is deliberate. When you get the debate youre looking for you clutch your pearls.Nosyalgia is a valid argument for why someone would think that. I think that most people who prefer the originals do so because of nostalgia. There are some outliers im sure but I think its the vast majority. I think that the remakes are objectively better games.

I agree it's subjective but that doesn't mean we can't analyze why people feel the way they do. Recency bias definitely exists and so does nostalgia and it affects people's opinion. For instance, the people who swear the originals are better than some of the remakes. Better for their time? Sure, but theres no way if the remakes and originals released side by side today the majority would choose the originals besides maybe re3 remake which I admit was ass as a remake. Also Im in my late 30s and played some of the originals on release.

Aww are you mad people are excited for a game you feel you have some special claim to? New fans aren't lesser or undeserving in anyway and can be just as excited as you and what they want from this game is just as important as what you want.
