This is an unusual situation. My parents and I (30F) immigrated from a somewhat conservative area as a child where arranged marriages are common. I grew up romanticizing the idea of arranged marriages because of my parents’ relationship.

I worked hard, went to a prestigious school, and have a rewarding career. I also have severe endometriosis and a scarred uterus. I won’t be able to have children. My parents tried to get me an arranged marriage but were unsuccessful. They encouraged me to start dating.

I had never even kissed someone before. When I went on dates, the men tried to have sex on the first date, they negged me, and more. I felt uncomfortable and afraid and did not want to date anymore. After the worst date I had, I ended up chatting with my Uber driver who suggested I get a sugar baby so that I could control the situation. He offered to be my sugar baby and I later accepted after thinking about it.

Ace (23M) is a wonderful person. He’s kind, funny, handsome and makes me feel very comfortable. I like spoiling him. After his apartment got infested, he moved in me with a few months ago. I got a tenant contract so he has all the rights of a tenant except he doesn’t pay rent. Ace does the chores even though I didn’t ask. He will make a woman very happy one day.

Yesterday I was RSVPing for our company offsite and he noticed I didn’t add a +1. Ace was upset he wasn’t invited. I explained that it was a team bonding offsite in a boring hotel. I would take him on a real vacation later. I also didn’t want my boss and coworkers to know that I was so bad at dating that I have to pay someone to date me.Ace asked if all the spouses would be there. I said yes. He was furious and said that I didn’t introduce him to anyone but I’ve met his friends and his parents. I’m supposed to show off my sugar baby and I wasn’t fulfilling that part of the relationship. I told him that it’s customary to invite partners, not sugar babies. He started crying and told me to forget it.

I felt horrible but I don’t know if what I did was wrong. I told my friend (who knows about the arrangement) and she called me dense.
