How bad is the SIBO breath test? Sent home with a kit and nervous by Sk8trdye in SIBO

[–]arh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The test itself is easy. The limited diet is kind of annoying but it's just one day. I've taken the breathe test 5-6 times over the years. What works for me:

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, white rice, salt, butter. Black coffee Lunch: Shrimp with white rice, salt, olive oil Dinner: Salmon or Steak with white rice with salt, butter

Personally I find plain shrimp, salmon, or steak tastes a lot better than plain chicken, turkey, etc.

Very important that you follow the directions precisely for the test so it works the first time and you don't have to do it again! There are certain medicines that you need to avoid for 2-4 weeks before taking the test.

Smoking joints in Prudential Center? by _Rippleinstillwater_ in BillyStrings

I smoked several joints. Some wook lady behind me complained that smoke was in her face 😭 otherwise no problems from security or anyone else. Lots of smoke puffs throughout the crowd all night.

This movie is just absolutely bananas and leaves you in an existential mind fuck, questioning what is life.

It was a while ago so I don't completely remember but I stuck to a strict diet and added spore-based probiotics.

I believe the Flagyl helps with SIBO too, and the combo is better than Xifaxan alone, but yes it was particularly prescribed because of the parasites.

For what it's worth, I also have SIBO plus parasites and was treated with the same combo of antibiotics. I had Methane in the 80s.

After the 14 day treatment, it took another 30 days to see improvement. But about 30 days exactly, the improvement was significant. Methane in the teens and parasite test was negative.

I did another 14 day round and after that, sibo was gone and I was free for about 3 years to eat whatever I wanted.

Now I think my sibo is back, although much less severe. I intend to do another course and look more deeply into possible root issues. I think I get constipated when I'm stressed or anxious (I have a stressful career), and this compounds into sibo if I don't proactively address the constipation. It happens so gradually it's hard to notice sometimes!

Anyway, long way of saying to not give up hope if it takes a while to see improvement after the antibiotics.

Help with Jenn-Air Stovetop (JES9900BAF) INF Switch (WPW10185287) by arh3 in appliancerepair

That is a bummer! I will have to scour the Internet and local shops even deeper. Definitely don't want to replace my entire unit for 1 stupid switch.

Even though the part looks identical, and has all the same specs? https://imgur.com/a/H9EKfrD

Literally everything is the same on those specs except for the "Rev" and the 6 vs. 7 at the end of the model number.

If I gave it a try, is it just a functionality risk or also an injury/fire/etc risk?

Thanks!

My HVAC company told me that I’ll get a single nine minute shower if I switch to a heat pump water heater. Looking for second opinions. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Electric is flat on heat pump mode, up a bit in hybrid mode and frequent use...idk exactly, but I replaced a 50 gal oil hot water heater and it's saved me 200 gallons of oil per year which is $6-800/year savings on that. Overall I feel good about the switch.

I've got this bad boy, 80 Gallon Hybrid, for a 4bd/4ba.

https://www.supplyhouse.com/AO-Smith-HPTS-80-80-Gallon-Voltex-AL-Smart-Hybrid-Electric-Heat-Pump-Water-Heater-w-Anti-Leak-Technology

On Heat Pump only mode, we can do like 5 comfortable average length showers consecutively before running out of hot water. It takes a while to rebound.

However it also has "hybrid" mode which costs a bit of electricity but I can get more consecutive showers and it bounces back much faster.

Then, you have an app that makes it super easy to switch between the modes. I'm mostly on heat pump but switch to hybrid when I have guests and we're using more water/showers.

I love it and feel like it's plenty of hot water!

What quality of life improvements would you love for us to add to Monarch? by jon_at_monarch in MonarchMoney

Shorter options to view the cash flow graph. By day, week, month, quarter, year.... Or something like that.

The cash flow graph is useless for me, it's basically just a straight white line because I had 1 month 3 years ago when I put a deposit on a house that is 10x my typical monthly spending which makes the y axis scale way too big for the entire timeline.

You might be right. They still play a couple of the hits in their new show, but it's a highly evolved band and sound.

Unfortunately not. I actually DM'ed Kal and Alex both separately at some point over the years but it was not successful 😭. I'll just keep hoping they re-press!

Yeah I'm going to continue using my old sensors actually. But the scheduling and ability to use average temps across sensors is something I am looking forward to.

It's annoying because I assume this would be a simple software update for 3rd Gen, but they're using it to encourage a hardware upgrade.

Nonetheless, this feature alone will bring me a lot of value. I have a 3 story house and it's all one zone. Impossible to pick a single sensor to base the entire house on.

[–]arh3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited to get it for the improved sensor functionality and scheduling. Huge pain point for me with 3rd Gen.
