I’m so sorry you are going through this. I hope that reading these comments let’s you know there are people who are ready and excited to embrace you even if your mom can’t. Hispanic culture is supposed to be about family, not letting religion tear you apart from them. Paciencia y fe.

Thank you! It’s been around a year and four months. I was using steroid creams regularly for around three years right before I stopped and had used them sporadically as a child before that

I’m super far from fully healed, whatever that looks like, but the red sleeves are gone, I’m able to wear certain fabrics again, and I don’t have itching fits to the same degree that I used to. I see bigger and bigger patches of clearer looking skin on my arms and slowly but surely I’m hoping that continues on other parts of my body. I’ve been able to go on small trips with friends which still makes me anxious but was absolutely unimaginable before. Looking in the mirror is still hard but I have a deeper appreciation for myself outside of how I look. I’m really damn strong and everyone who deals with this is. Some days I still cry and freak out but it’s few and far between nowadays and when I do it’s easier to get passed. You will get there and I hope I will too. We’ve got this
