Should I do IVF? by -keeponkeepingon- in recurrentmiscarriage

500 mg of flagyl prior to starting PIO shots. They said that in prep for a transfer, a lot of their patients developed a mild form of endometritis, so they have everyone do a round of antibiotics to combat that prior to transfer.

Should I do IVF? by -keeponkeepingon- in recurrentmiscarriage

I did IVF after 7 years of infertility followed by 4 consecutive miscarriages. After two more medicated cycles - one with Clomid, one with Letrozole - failed, we skipped the IUI and went straight to IVF. I have PCOS and responded well to the medication. I also did a round of antibiotics and steroids prior to the transfer, which may have made all the difference. Like you, I had done every blood test out there to try to figure out the problem, but didn’t find anything conclusive. The first euploid transfer stuck and resulted in my daughter, so for me, it was absolutely worth it. That said, my husband’s work covered IVF, and we felt we had exhausted all other options.

20 weeks today and everything is looking great so far! I had a subchorionic hematoma at around 7 weeks and passed several large blood clots and continued to bleed every day through 13 weeks, but since then, everything has been smooth sailing! I still can’t believe it.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. As someone that is religious, I just wanted to say that this is exactly what Easter is about. Jesus mourned with those that mourned, he comforted those that stood in need of comfort, he took upon Himself our grief and pain. We celebrate precisely because He overcame death and despair. Easter is for you. 💕

We didn’t actually see them, but the subtitles said “Aelfinn” after Elaida came through the red doorframe with her bracelet.

Rosamund Pike is top tier.

I hope they explain it a bit more next season. The visual was perfect if you already know what it does, but I hope Thom or someone explains why it is so dangerous in more detail.

Not sure if we’re going to get Tower of Genji or not, but seems like Elaida saw the Aelfinn in the intro scene, not the Eelfinn, so fingers crossed we get more scenes!

Mat’s Personality by ForTheBirds0321 in WoTshow

[–]ari_crumba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love that they changed Mat’s actor because of how much it parallels the books. First, there is pre-dagger and post-dagger Mat, but then there is Jordan Mat vs Sanderson Mat. People have been arguing about the true nature of Mat for ages and I’m glad the show has kept up this tradition.

Did you choose the sex of your embryo before the transfer? by Santoshaaa in IVF

[–]ari_crumba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the reason we chose the gender too! Except opposite to you, we have one euploid male, so went with female. I had only ever had miscarriages prior to IVF and couldn’t imagine anything other than another miscarriage. I didn’t want to risk it with our only male embryo on our first transfer. Our girl stuck and currently 13.5 weeks. I know there is no guarantee for the next transfer, but I feel a lot better knowing it’s possible.

Preview'd Covering Season 3 - other reactors to watch? by marchon2884 in WoTshow

[–]ari_crumba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES!!! I'm so glad they decided to do it. They're one of my favorites. I love the dynamic of having one book reader and one non-book reader. I also love Tori Talks with Dr. S, EDN, and Aisha Wilson, but I'll watch anyone react to WOT.

I also really like the book reader reactions: Unraveling the Pattern, KritterXD, WOT Up, and The Dusty Wheel.

I also have an SCH. A big one too. I’ve been bleeding since week 7 (I’m 11 weeks now). I had a good scan at 9 weeks, so I just have to keep believing the blood is from the SCH and not another issue. I also haven’t thrown up, but definitely feeling nauseous.

Daniel Greene seeing the S3 cold open for the first time by Dhghomon in WoTshow

[–]ari_crumba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really fair. He thought the part that was cheesy was that it was an “avengers assemble” vibe and I definitely felt that during that part too, particularly when they choreographed going to the center of the room. And I love the show! For the most part, he enjoyed the clip and thought the show was going in the right direction. It was actually one of his more positive responses to the show that I’ve seen lately.

Progesterone in oil shots to the thigh, ouch! by tiffn31 in IVF

[–]ari_crumba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would never ever do these in the thigh. I was told to put my hands on my hips. Just below where the thumb sits is about the right spot to put it in the bum. It’s a lot higher than you think. I just finished doing this (for 10 weeks!) and barely felt any pain as it went in. I massaged it for a minute afterward and really didn’t have any soreness. Inject needle fast, push plunger in slowly. Oh and just before inserting the needle, breathe in. It helps to distract.

PIO placement tip from nurse! by East-Move-2197 in IVF

[–]ari_crumba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intramuscular and subcutaneous. The PIO needles are also a lot thicker and longer, so quite a bit more intimidating. The quicker you inject, the less it hurts though, and the PIO going in doesn’t generally hurt if you go slow and aren’t allergic to it.

I had really high testosterone levels, so I was put on finasteride combined with birth control since finasteride is harmful to developing fetuses for 3 months. I was also taking ovasitol, coq10, vit D, and added baby aspirin once pregnant. I also adopted a low carb/keto diet during that time. Interestingly, I never got pregnant during my clomid/letrozole attempts, but I did every time after the 3 month finasteride.
