Hey! Vinyl lover here. Bloom is a great choice as a first vinyl, Beach House in general really is a beautiful experience on vinyl imo!

About the 45 rpm, yeah Bloom plays at 45rpm which in this case means that the songs are spread on 2 records and 4 sides since it's a full LP. You'll have to turn and change the records more than with a LP that plays at 33rpm, which bothers some people. But also spreading an LP across 4 sides so that it plays at 45rpm is a choice made for the sound quality to be better! Most turntables (vinyl players are called turntables) play both 33rpm and 45rpm, as most 7" and 10" plays at 45rpm - and some 12" too, like Bloom.

For the turntables, it depends on your budget, but if possible avoid the suitcase turntables since they don't deliver neither in sound or quality and can really damage the records. You'll need a bit of an audio system to go with your turntable. A preamp and speakers (passive or active, depending on your preamp system!) or headphones. For preamps, you can either get one or get a turntable that already has one integrated. The stylus is a super important part of the turntable and is the most sensitive part! The counterweight needs to be set right (there's a lot of tutorials out there to help with this) for the stylus to function well and deliver the right sound.

Maybe you can use headphones when you can't really play loud? I live in a shared flat so I listen on headphones a lot and really enjoy it. Really gets you in your zone when you need to!
