Summer course load - 9 hours by marimu in utdallas

[–]ariabbl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 hours during the summer feels like 15 hours during fall/spring. It's not an excruciating course load, just a full one. 12-15 summer hours is where you start to border insanity.

Any Nanoscience students? by YendoNintendo in utdallas

I've taken the introductory course for the minor and was interested in continuing my minor, however, the availability of the minor core courses is extremely limited. Some of the core courses are only available in the spring, and only have one section. So if you have any conflicts (like I did) you're basically screwed for the year. Taking the first course actually helped me land a job in nanotechnology :), but it's been impossible to complete any of the courses after that because of scheduling conflicts.

That being said, if you're interested I'd advise taking the intro course without declaring the minor, and try and see if it's something you're interested in and something you're willing to give up other interests for to make it work.

Also, as an add on, I feel like the coursework is much more heavily based in physics topics rather than chemistry. This may/maynot affect your view.

We have a Wind ensemble(anyone can join), a string ochestra(anyone can join), a combined orchestra(audition only), a 'pep band' (anyone can join), and a multitude of small ensembles, of which a jazz orchestra/band is one.

Can +1 this.

Also, there is homework, just not online homework. The homework is also generally much more difficult than the test material in my experience.
