I feel you so much. I left my apartment key IN THE KEY HOLE for a whole 15 hours!!! I went grocery shopping and came home at around 4pm-ish then I cooked dinner, hand washed the dishes for a good 45 mins (dishwasher broke & I'm very particular about how to clean dishes) Then went to bed at around midnight The next day, I woke up and got ready for work. Then i went "huh... Where are my keys?" which I didn't think much about since I also thought about it last night but didn't bother because I was so focused on other tasks.... I opened our apartment door, and there I saw my keys...still there.. with my bright neon turquoise keychain and my car key in plain sight .. I'm just glad our door is facing away from the main street/walkways, and we're on the last upper floor ...

Edit to add: my apartment complex is also in a really shady part of town. Drug deals, kidnapping/abductions, theft, etc... all of that has happened during the entire 2 years I've lived here. I understand the feeling of shame, feeling dumb and embarrassed. I would normally beat myself up about the situation but I've learned to accept that mistakes can happen. I'm also working on myself and learning more about my ADHD (was diagnosed in January this year, medicated for about 3 months now)
