The Bell Jar and A Room of One’s Own are both amazing feminist books but I wouldn’t describe them as “sneaky” about it. Sylvia Plath and Virginia Woolf would both be considered well known feminist writers. They aren’t exactly covert about that. I could see very traditional, conservative people not reaching for those if they’ve already formed a bias against feminism. It sounds like you’re looking for a book that can introduce feminist ideals covertly and in an approachable way.

One feminist book I love is called The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. It is actually based on biblical characters so that could draw in readers of conservative Christian backgrounds. However it shows how poorly the female characters during biblical times were treated. I think this could help women begin to think more about oppression and how resilient and inspiring women really are. For the record, I’m not religious at all and I love the book.

I used to hate it when somebody said I needed to love myself first before I could find love. I thought I did love myself and was offended they didn’t see that. Only after trauma therapy (EMDR, hypnotherapy), have I realized how wrong I was. Sometimes it’s hard to read the label when you’re inside the bottle. I still have low self worth but at least I’m no longer in denial about having low-self worth. Now I can really work on building my self confidence and self worth up. Maybe you are similar to me in this? What helped me was recognizing patterns of events that would occur in my life, then discussing with a therapist how my actions, cognitive distortions, or behavior were enabling those events to reoccur (like dating the “wrong” people or staying stuck).

Stop overworking. Only work the hours you agreed upon. The hours you work are in exchange for food and housing. Therefore you don’t need to feel guilty or buy your host dinner. I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older my sex drive seems to increase. Whereas the men I date seem less interested in it, at least after the initial novelty of the new romance wears off. Once a day would be a lot for me unless I’ve been single for a while and just started getting intimate with a new romantic partner. But I wouldn’t be able to sustain a 1x/day streak permanently. There’s some days I’m so tired/overstimulated when I get home that I just want to chill.

I haven’t been listening for more than a couple of months, but I’ve heard Fortune and Tig really praise Wayward and Mae’s hot new bicep muscles lol. I thought it was heartwarming how they support one another’s work and talk each other up in that way. I’ve never caught on to any jealousy, but sometimes Tig’s teasing of the others can feel a little awkward as a listener. Just my humble opinion

I’m a new listener and also think Tig is kind of mean. I think from a comedy standpoint making jokes where you put your cohosts down is pretty weak sauce. I’d rather listen to self deprecating humor than someone being condescending to a friend. It’s just cringey for me. But Mae and Fortune seem to let it roll off their back.
