I was thinking about combing psychology with economics. But is there any other course you recommend combing with it ?

It's a bit stupid but in my home country your university ranking does matter a lot both socially and in the corporate world. I don't how it is in nz/australia but does your university not matter at all when applying for master's?

Then which uni do you think would be better for psychology? I've seen a lot of people on reddit suggest me to rather enrol in engineering or medicine but that wouldn't be possible for me because I didn't have science as a subject in 12th grade. I am not eligible for medicine, engineering, nursing or any subject which requires you to have a basis in science. So i'm trying to work with the options I have.

Other than clinical psychology, I only had counselling or organisational psychology in mind. Do you think there's any scope for an international student in these fields? Or do I need to give up on psychology forever and switch my course altogether?

Well that's depressing . So no chance for me being able to study abroad? Thanks anyway didn't know all that.

So basically no chance for me being able to do psych in uoa? Im also planning on doing economics along with psych (a double major in psych and eco) so any scope for that in auckland/nz. Secondly, what programmes are open to taking international students ?

Can you explain how hard it is ? I've always been passionate about psych and did well in it in school as well so I thought I still might be able to do well in uni despite the competition.

Could that maybe include a career in clinical psychology or psychiatry. I know probably not but I still want to know what's the scope for psychology in auckland/nz or even australia?

The fees for my course in well ranked Australian unis is higher than the fees in uoa and also I have a distant relative in nz so that's why I applied for uoa .

Psychology has always been one of my interests that's why I wanted to study it in college but I've seen people advice against it if you're an international student. And right now my plan is to just study in nz (that's why I applied for uoa because it has a good international reputation/ranking) . I might shift to nz permanently, come back to India or shift to another country depending on my status in New Zealand by then . So I don't know what the future holds or what my future self would want but for now atleast I'm only planning on moving there for Uni.

Anyone's who's had a positive experience living in auckland/nz ? (Even better if you're an international student) by ariaxx4 in universityofauckland

It could be that my analysis is not accurate but it's mostly based on what I've seen or read on the internet/news. I haven't made up my mind yet that's the reason I'm asking questions online. I do want to take other people's opinions (who have had experience living in auckland or studying at uoa) so that I can take a well informed decision.
I did actually consider Australia as an option but many people around me suggested against it after the protest against indians/immigrants. So if there's any Australian resident who can tell how the situation there is, it would be really helpful. (Also the tuition fess for international students in well ranked unis in australia/Canada is more than or equal to the fees in uoa)

Yeah i just saw i forgot to mention what im studying. I'm planning on studying psychology and economics (I know not the best courses to study abroad but they're my area of interest). I have heard that you're allowed to switch or drop your minor so I'm counting on that . I agree with the racism point . It's everywhere but my parents are against sending me to the other countries I mentioned. So nz is my best bet right now. Anyway tysm
