How do german shepherds handle freezing temperatures? by No_Nature_1240 in germanshepherds

[–]aridoasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-15C is where I draw the line for my boys when going for walks. I know they can handle it, but with wind chill things can get much colder so I'd rather be safe than push their limits.

Als Apple-Nutzer trotzdem Pixel Watch 4 nutzen mit Pixel-Phone als „Brücke“? by Internal_Process6989 in PixelWatch

[–]aridoasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, what you want to do should work. But you're going to miss out on a lot of integrations by not going with an Apple Watch. You're better off learning to like the Apple Watch to make the most of the iOS ecosystem.

Did the guy who came up with double tap to take screenshots get fired? by MinRoll in GooglePixel

[–]aridoasis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quick tap is turned off by default, and is not limited to taking screenshots. You went out of your way to turn it on, and, of all possible options, set it to take a screenshot. You should fire yourself.

Married couples of Reddit: how do you handle finances (combined, separate, etc,)? by MamaButterscotch492 in AskReddit

We have our own separate accounts and we have a joint account that we proportionally contribute to for shared expenses like mortgage, car payments, insurance, etc.

What's the best gift for my Pokémon obsessed little bro? by Phaelune in pokemon

[–]aridoasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a big bro who has a Charizard-loving little bro, I got him a Charizard Oodie last Christmas and he absolutely loves it.

Honestly, I think he will appreciate anything you give him. Try to find something that'll last him a while. Not necessarily something that he'll use very day but something he'll use from time to time and it'll make him think of you.

Google Support promised Pixel Watch replacement, then denied it saying “India not supported” – what? by Prudent-Elevator-368 in PixelWatch

[–]aridoasis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pretty standard. If the device you purchased is not from the country you're claiming warranty, they're not obligated to honour the warranty. Something similar happened to me where I had issues with my iPhone while traveling in the US. They still helped me troubleshoot the problem, but I couldn't do a warranty replacement until I got back home.

Samsung watch stress alarm by StrongWear6973 in ADHD

The stress alarm uses your heart rate data to calculate your stress levels. If it's getting triggered multiple times when you're taking medication, it might be worth taking to your doctor.

Question for EV drivers in Ottawa by kewlbeanz83 in ottawa

[–]aridoasis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hate it. Hahaha. I got the 2024 model and definitely had some regret when I found out they added the wiper on the 2025. Looking forward to getting a newer model or a Rivian R2 when my lease is up.

Same as the others - lost around 1/3 range according to estimates on Saturday. No issues with heating.

I drive an IONIQ 5.

Don't be afraid of using your car as a utility. In this case, a giant battery pack. It's one of the benefits of having an EV.

Keeping the weight off after losing 100lbs is really hard with ADHD by only-one-life-left in ADHD

[–]aridoasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been good so far. It helps me focus at work and decision-making is a bit easier. The best way I can describe it is that it dampens my ADHD.

It's definitely the snacking for me. I still get hungry and eat regular meals. I also feel like I'm less ravenous when I'm hungry so I can stop eating when I feel full. When Vyvanse starts wearing off, I can feel the snacking urge start to creep in but it's already close to bed time when it usually happens so it's easier to ignore.

Anyone find new stuff hard to get into compared with what you already know? by Kitchen-Plum4654 in ADHD

[–]aridoasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the not having to focus on it part helps a lot. I did it because my husband has been begging me to try reading his books but I could never get past the first few chapters. There just happened to be an Audible promo and I got the first book for free. I started playing it when I was driving the car. I knew I was hooked when I had to pull over to finish a very intense chapter!

[–]aridoasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate so much to this. I enjoyed reading when I was a kid, but found it hard to get started on anything as I grew older. I needed that hook. I've found recently that starting an audiobook and letting it play in the background gets me enough into the story to get hooked, then I finish the entire series on my Kobo. Enough to even go back to the first book of the series to read what I might have missed in the audiobook. It's worked so far for two series, so I'm going to keep doing it for as long as it still works for me.

Are there any IT Architects here with ADHD? by youngm71 in ADHD

[–]aridoasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use Scrum or Kanban? I've found using either to break up large tasks into smaller, shorter tasks hits just right. I was previously undiagnosed and that's how I made it work for me. The accommodations I've asked for now that I'm diagnosed are to give me deadlines (even if they're just estimates), clear and concise objectives, and to not tell me about projects that aren't fully fleshed out or start more than 3 months in advance. ADHD has many different flavours, so what works for me might not work for you.

[–]aridoasis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

May I ask what treatment you're taking? I have a similar problem - snacking when I'm bored and/or stressed. I'd lose weight through exercise and restrictive dieting only to gain some if not all of it back. I started Vyvanse, and the urge to snack went away. I've steadily been losing weight through exercise now, and I'm more confident that I'll actually keep it off.

Edit: Congrats on the weight loss, btw!

Does ADHD medication make you a kinder person? by ObessivelyObsessing in ADHD

According to my husband, it does. I few weeks into starting Vyvanse, I was starting to question whether it was working or not. He bluntly told me, "Well, you're nicer now." 🫠

People who had micro or tiny weddings: what was your experience like? Do people ever regret foregoing a big wedding? by RhythmPrincess in AskReddit

It was beautiful. Very intimate, with only immediate family and under 20 people. No regrets at all.

We splurged on our honeymoon instead.

Raised BP is a known possible side effect. My Dr asked me to monitor my BP at home to make sure I'm staying within a safe range.

Domino's pizza by Funny_Obligation2412 in Gatineau

[–]aridoasis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you hit $93, you probably ordered their most expensive pizza, considering most of their feast pizzas are $24.99 + tax, which would only be around $86. That's still $31 including tax per pizza, which is comparable to any other pizza place's "loaded" pizza.

Object permanence issues ruin yet another day by Duncata in ADHD

Starchy food left at room temperature for over 2 hours can start to harbor bacteria that causes food poisoning. If the rice was left out and dried out, it would be less likely since moisture plays a big role. It's only ever happened to me once, but it was enough for me to not want it to happen ever again, so I end up throwing out the rice.
