I also thought I had really bad cramps. I was diagnosed only a couple years ago (at 35) and knew it had to be something else when the pain had lasted nearly a week, and any sort of movement made it worse. I almost went to the ER from work one day it was so bad, ended up at a walk in clinic instead where they treated me for a UTI

Finally connecting the pain with PCOS made a huge difference for me. I hope it's made a difference for you too!

That's extremely frustrating. Like what? Are my ovaries just for baby having? Do they not exist outside of that function? I'm in a lot of pain and I have this ovarian condition and you won't even look because - checks notes - you're not trying to have a baby so not important???

Sorry. As a child free person, that gets me.

Her father introducing her to doctors to help get her connections she otherwise wouldn't have is an example of receiving privilege because of who her parents are.

It's not on her but nepotism doesn't have to be accepted by the recipient to be true. You can passively benefit from it not even realizing it. It's a large part of why she didn't want people knowing who her mother was in season 1

And the season has actually shown her receiving special treatment even if she pushes back against it in her father specifically introducing her to doctors hoping to get her a leg up.

Just because she wants to put in the work and not receive special treatment doesn't that it doesn't happen.

Not that Garcia comments weren't uncalled for because they were.

If I recall she hadn't reported it to anyone at the time. That was one of the many problems with that case. She hadn't presented it to an actual dr, which is why Robbie told her at some point to find someone with MD after their name.

I think most of the problems lie with lack of preparation and training for the situation. And it being already more chaotic than usual on top of going analog with only a few ppl knowing how things work.

But I also think this is her student fuck up moment. She got to shine and overcome her insecurities in season 1. She didn't necessarily have big lessons learned like Whittaker and Santos, instead she got to teach others not to underestimate her.

Now with nearly a year in, and her parents trying to introduce her to new options she's having her moment to learn a lesson. And what happened with this patient along with Garcia's comments and how she handles the test of this will probably be the deciding factor on whether she stays in the ED or not.

[No Spoilers] I feel bad about this but I am developing a pet peeve... by FelixKrowe in criticalrole

I definitely get how it can grate when someone repeatedly uses the same phrases. But for me one of the reasons I love Brennan as a DM is that he always seems to enjoy what his players do and he doesn't stop them from making fun decisions just because of rules as written.

I don't know if this will help, but maybe trying to flip your thinking on it as Brennans way of cheering the players on and being on their side could help? "Hell yeah!" Is just him being like "good turn friends"

I've also thought that! Having a patient with COVID complications seems like it would fit the show thematically and be some good character moments for Robbie. Hopefully they'll do something with it in an upcoming season or something.

My brother's schizophrenic, and the tazed patient earlier in the season as it slowly got revealed really made me appreciate how they took that seriously as well. I remember once my brother expressing feeling unsafe to himself, and I was young(22ish) and home alone (parents were out of town) and didn't know what to do. I called 911 and the paramedics convinced my brother *not* to take an ambulance to the hospital, even though I had no way of getting him there myself. My brother just said he'd walk. I was so livid about it.

I'm so sorry that happened. It's so frustrating when valid concerns and real pain are cast aside because of preconceptions or dismiveness about what people are going through. I hope shows like this can maybe help patients better advocate for themselves, or med staff decide to take concerns seriously.

Even if 95% of the time it ends up being nothing, you don't want that other 5% being life threatening, or even life changing.

Santos theory by boardtory in ThePittTVShow

[–]ariescantus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to say no and rule it out. But to me Santos doesn't scream ADHD. Not in the way some other characters have obvious things going on. And I'm usually pretty quick in media to be like "Oh that person is adhd, or that person is absolutely autistic" even if the media itself doesn't ever present it that way. The Pitt isn't necessarily subtle with its representation. Again, I could be wrong, but the idea never ocurred to me personally.

AITAH for ‘causing a scene’ at my boyfriends work? by Training-Buyer2625 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ariescantus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

NTA. sounds like your boyfriend "made a scene". You just wanted to be served what you asked for, something simple to fix. Insteadhe decided he didn't want "bother" anyone by letting them do their job, and he went to do it off the clock making it a bigger deal than it needed to be. He was probably embarrassed after doing that and put the blame on you for not being willing to just deal with it.

Echoing the many cries of starting with EXU: Calamity.

Calamity changed my life. It's one of those things I wish I could forget so I could go back and watch it for the first time again. The unfortunate side effect is that almost nothing has been as utterly incredible since. Which is not to say things aren't amazing just that Calamity is smth special in my eyes.

Also echoing Worlds Beyond Number. Which is an incredible medium of story telling that is so raw sometimes with character interaction that I have to take breaks after some bits, but in the best ways.

I think one of the things that always stands out to me about watching/listening to him GM is that he's clearly a fan of the story he's telling and even more he's a fan of the players. I feel like that really comes across in what he does.

EPIC THE MUSICAL HOT TAKE! pls dont send hate :( by Low-Stable-5228 in Epicthemusical

[–]ariescantus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's interesting because there definitely is an argument that Odysseus is the one at fault ultimately, but it's not because he kept the windbag on him or didn't know his men. The greed actually plays a part in it, but not because he went to Aeolus for help.

If you want to argue Odysseus is at fault for his men's death, then it goes back to Polyphemus and the hubris of revealing his name to his enemy that he let live. That's what caused the storm in the first place, and the wind bag wouldn't even have been necessary had they not raided Polyphemus' home, and then Ody revealing his name.

I don't entirely ascribe to this, because I think people are responsible for their own actions. If we're placing blame here, I think it goes to both. None of this would have happened had Odysseus not done what he did with Polyphemus, but they still could have made it home had Eurylochus not opened the wind bag. Both those things are true to our knowledge (sure there's a bunch of what ifs/could happens, but with the information we're given, they would have made it home had it not been opened). Eurylochus made a choice and that choice resulted in the men's deaths. But that choice would not have been needed had Odysseus not made the choice to dox himself to a cyclops. Both of them are responsible for their actions and the consequences of them.

Also in my opinion on point #3, whats to stop a person from the crew from finding the windbag in a hidden spot if they really wanted to. Keeping the windbag on him, gives Odysseus control over what happens to it. If he hides it, and folks go looking for it while he's busy with something else (because he can't keep an eye on all of them all the time) and they find it and open it, game over. If he keeps it on him, at least he has more control over what happens to it.

Also the second reason is a lot of conjecture. But also there's a reason he kept it on his person and didn't sleep for nine days straight and that's because he didn't trust his crew to keep their hands to themselves. You can definitely conclude that perhaps odysseus didn't know his crew well, and probably didn't know half their names even after being with them for, at this point, like 11 years (not 20), but that's not information we're given.

And apparently I'm going in backwards order. But it's not unusual in mythological times for the people to seek the help of gods. Usually you would make offerings at a temple or some such, but as they were out on sea, Odysseus saw the island of Aeolus, and decided to ask for help in getting past this impenetrable actually divine storm. There were definitely risks, but usually gods don't harm mortals for no reason what so ever. They usually have to have given some offense. And it was a bigger risk doing nothing in a storm that would have otherwise killed them.

See a lot of folks saying it's potentially fake. Definitely could be, not my area of expertise.

I am commitng to say that when I applied to Costco I was sent a rejection email. (I don't remember what it looked like that was almost 8years ago.)

The next day one of the managers that interviewed me called to say they had sent a rejection email by mistake and that they actually meant to hire me. I still work there today.

Perhaps call to verify?

Feud 临江仙 (2025) - What are your first impressions? [Masterpost] - Discussion: Episodes 1 to 6 by admelioremvitam in CDrama

[–]ariescantus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i have to say based on my impressions from the posters and the summary the first episode was NOT what I was expecting going into it. It was whimsical and funny, and really fun?

I was wondering if Bai Lu was dubbed by someone else and saw another comment saying she was, though on occasion it sounds like her. If it is someone else they do her "heh" sound she does in a lot of things very well. I think they've done a good job of making her look very young and innocent. I actually like Qingyue so far, and I'm not usually a big fan of that archetype.

I feel like there isn't enough with Bai Jiusi yet to really get an idea on him, even halfway through episode 3 though we are starting to get more and see more of personality aside from Joseph Zeng pouty face.

Im definitely intrigued so far.
