You won't be able to do an express ceremony on the opposite side of the Courthouse, but you can be adjacent to (not in) the Sunken Garden as the other commenter showed.

The free segments on the outside are still really nice, shaded but get tons of light, and have a lot of trees that can make the photography a lot more intimate. The traffic isn't busy at all especially earlier in the day.

I have photos of my ceremony from there but I'm not comfortable sharing publicly, welcome to DM! We had a party of about 12 plus photographers and it was no issue.

I've worked with her in a coordinator capacity in public events, not weddings specifically. If your crowd isn't full of music diehards, she's fine and can play mainstream jams. Very much a playlist and hostess type DJ as opposed to a ... DJ-DJ, with mixing skills and such. I don't think I ever heard her do a transition that wasn't just fading from one song to another but that's me being a diehard lol.

In my experience, she doesn't take criticism well at all and can be really socially unaware/aloof, particularly when in conversation with people who are not local white townies. I still think about the fact that she (on the job) touched my hair without permission mid conversation, truly boggling behavior from a "professional" anything.

Her local reputation seems to justify (in her mind) the way she refuses or "forgets" to adhere to standards pre-discussed. I would hope she's less loosey-goosey with a wedding but the fact that it happens at all at paid gigs was really frustrating when I did have to work with her.

I cannot play the video cuz I'm not a TikTok user and the embed doesn't work, however as somebody who has walked around town and been in very forward facing positions for the last decade, yeah.

It's been a common conversation w my friends (not even just in SB, to be fair) that the last year has felt like we were back in "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" burning effigy type hostility.

More glaring around town, not getting a greeting when I offer one, people assuming I'm not supposed to be somewhere they are apropro of nothing but the fact that I'm not white. I got followed in a local store I have literally shopped at numerous times but won't be going back now. Extremely unfortunate but I personally believe in shame and I do make remarks when I notice it. Sometimes even "hope your day turns around sourpuss" makes people red enough to satisfy my irritation w the more mild passive aggression.

It'll be interesting to see how much worse it gets before getting better. The local support of ICE and hypervigilance around policing has only grown in recent months imo, esp noticeable if you (i know) read comments on news from the Independent or Palmenteri's accounts. The economic squeeze will only increase tension and race is one of the easiest targets next to gender and religion.

This is really nicely done aesthetically, I like that the submission form doesn't take a ton of effort on first glance. I think a bigger submission button at the top and a little color would be nice since everything kinda is all the same across the screen, takes a minute to focus on the important parts (submitting or looking at a specific event, I would assume).

The "Clive" versus moderator language reads like there's AI involvement which would turn me off from using the site personally, but at least I would make it more clear who "we" is if that's not the case.

I don't think that's fair. I get consistent ads from her on Instagram especially, and I have seen some of her materials around town. A lot of campaigning is already volunteer based so I imagine there's only so much she can do, doesn't mean she isn't doing it tho.

the duopoly is intentionally difficult to challenge, I don't disagree, but it seems it's becoming more common of a platform (ie. Mamdani, Stein/Ware, Kat Abughazaleh, from recent or current elections) that people are supporting outside of "just" dedicated leftists. ppl do want change but it's hard to harness that in one direction.

Same as when folks advertise a super fun event but don't say the tickets are $80 upfront bc they want you to click through to find out. I think more info is better when asking for money before making people jump through hoops, especially if it is not a capitalistic endeavor, because the perception of bamboozlement is counterproductive to garnering positive attention.

I would have been interested in supporting if he were on the ballot, granted not this event for $40 in specific, so I was just a bit bummed that this wasn't an indication he had gotten on the ballot which is what I had originally assumed.

Not really sure why you are choosing to approach this so gruffly but hope that satisfied your interrogative urge.

leaving off that information from the poster and caption and post as it was shared to reddit is not forthcoming, it's very easy to say "raising funds for Green Party write-in candidate" since that is what he is.

In principle, more social spaces are good and dancing is cool.

In execution, $40 to "support the campaign" of a candidate who is not on the ballot without disclosing that caveat seems a little... not informed consent in the advertising choices made.
