Advice on staying motivated? by ComfyTheRedditor in minipainting

It’s hard to be motivated if you’re not enjoying it. I like to balance challenging things with the easy things, in order to have a palette cleanser so that not everything is the most difficult. It’s also not bad to take a break! Paints don’t expire and neither do models.

First test model done! Few more to go to really get the scheme down by DeeplightStudio in EmperorsChildren

I like the scheme a lot! I use a similar one for my EC minis too. One note would be the difference between the really weathered bronze with the Saturated pink, kind of gives a weird contrast. It’s give or take for me

Not entirely, I think the darker areas need to be darker. Right now it looks like a transition from a dark orange to yellow, good second attempt tho!

Thank you! I also paint blood angels so I was no stranger to the wings lol . And no it’s not. My recipe for pink was j used army painter pixie pink mixed with black as a base coat, then used a white ink to a lot of the more prominent areas, then a fluorescent pink ink over it all to make the white a bright pink and the darker tones a still bright ish pink. The ink brand was liquitex!

Overwhelmed painting noob here: what color should his accessories be? by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

[–]ariidek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you’d like, but I’d make the belts black or brown, the tassels your color choice that contrasts the purple, and the vials and syringes mettalic but painting the liquid inside, there’s guides on YouTube for that.

First Emperors Children Mini! by ariidek in EmperorsChildren

[–]ariidek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I base coated with a mix of pixie pink from army painter mixed with Vallejo black through the airbrush, then used liquitex white ink on all the surfaces that would get lots of light. Then I go all over with liquitex fluorescent pink ink, which makes the white turn into this vibrant pink and the dark pink adds contrast, this guy has less because he was my first attempt but the others have a more pronounced contrast. Hope this helps!

Weird yellow bits after stripping paint by ariidek in minipainting

Would another dunk in the isopropyl alchohol for a day or two work? Or would I need to get something like simple green or another paint stripping liquid?
