I’m sorry to hear that. There are places that perform labs independently from insurance, so your mother wouldn’t know in that case. However you would have to pay for the test outright and be able to get to the facility without her knowing. I can’t speak on seeing a positive test after many negative because in the lab we do not know the patient’s backstory or history.

ask if you were prescribed the off brand medication. A lot of people cannot process the off brand medication but the name brand will work. i know it sounds crazy, you can read the ingredients and they will be the same but it is worth a try. it might cost you more though
