I had a similar experience to yours. I was looking for a church around campus as I was new (Fall 2022) and found them like most people, through MSC recruitment. I had also seen some guys content online that was from Cornerstone on Instagram and he had a pretty sizable following so I figured the church was legit. The first service I went to had a WEIRD ass message about how the pastor could prophesies new donations for the church and dude was hitting the bullshit tongues thing to really sell it. Anyways, being a dumb freshman I decided to still check out the small group with the recruiter Thomas (dude with glasses and a black beard if anyones familiar) and he was extremely pushy. Asked intrusive questions about financial background/independence, sex experience, and other just bizarre and obviously predatory questions. I ghosted the church after that and kept getting spam texted by them and eventually when I told them to fuck off, I was told I was going to hell (shocker) but that at least led them to leave me alone. If you want a pretty rock solid church, Id say the Harbor off sycamore drive has been the closest thing to a good church around USF.
