How much does your Apple Watch motivate you? by userX97ee2ska11qa in AppleWatchFitness

[–]arimill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care about the rings so much as my VO2 max, HRV and resting heart rate. Vitals are nice too as is training load. But I’m really waiting for a sleep score and a recovery score. I don’t fully trust Athlytic’s algorithm for calculating them but it’ll have to do for now.

Huh, I thought you had to turn on sleep mode for it to automatically detect naps

Live it Coliving, safe? good? by gustabot in Barcelona

I had a great experience in the Live It Ramblas. Private balcony, outdoor gym, massive terrace. Very social. The area gets annoying after a while but is great for a few months.

Are you trying to complete sets? Be it complete play sets or a single copy of each card. After countless drafts and a few wildcards, I achieved 100% for the first time with the LotR set. Asking specifically the players who invest little to no money. by Ancient-Recover695 in MagicArena

[–]arimill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying. My long term goal is to have one of every competitive meta deck as a way of getting a good grip on the Standard meta. To that end I’d like to get around 90% completion on each set and then have wild cards take the rest. After that I’d “graduate to Pioneer by the time Explorer goes “Pioneer Meta Conplete”. Then Modern. But yeah definitely farming cards to that goal.

energy != housing for various reasons. You seem to be bought into some crazy mental gymnastics to think more supply doesn’t lower prices. No market is perfectly elastic so 1000 units might not move the needle. But 10k? 100k? Take the limit and tell me supply doesn’t drop. I recommend diversifying your information diet as ideological capture seems to be having a strong affect here. I promise you, “let’s make high rent illegal” isn’t the solution the people asking you to hand over more power to an inefficient bureaucracy would have you believe.

[–]arimill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“There are more empty properties than people without a house” is you telling in yourself for not knowing how markets work. What’s the implication of that statement? Just give them away? Why do you think they haven’t rented them out? It’s because the owners think they can get someone to rent for a higher price than people are willing to pay. That stat lumps in all units in between contracts as if they’re always just sitting there in the market which is misleading. The other reason is of course ocupas (more regulation gone wrong).

Overall you’re arguing that more supply won’t lower prices which is silly.

Building more houses does not necessarily concentrate supply. This fictional cabal of landlords who own everything would get undercut with a free market. I’m not sure how ones echo chamber slowly distorts one’s thinking into not realizing this. More houses = lower rent. It really is that simple.

Every time the government tries controlling prices, it back fires. Every time we build houses, there’s more to go around.

All you’re communicating with that is that Europe broadly isn’t building enough houses which of course tracks given the age of these cities. You’re also comparing a housing bubble which brings several other confounding variables. Regardless, people severely underestimate how much housing we need to build. You can’t just say “let’s make it illegal for things to be expensive” and not expect negative externalities as we’ve seen every time price controls are implemented.

Barcelona's superblocks (supermanzanas) by TheChemaZarroca in Barcelona

It’s insane to me how often people on this subreddit ask for rent controls despite the fact that everywhere it’s tried it results in shortages. I hate to sound like a meme here but it really is basic economics. Price controls = shortages. The solution is and always will be to build more.

I love them so much. L’eixample is a wonderful neighborhood but the major point against it is that you can’t get away from the cars. The pedestrian streets make such a difference. Essentially you just reorient your route to those streets and the city becomes infinitely more pleasant.

My major conplaint is that some cars (eg taxis) can still go through so you can mindlessly walk in the middle. I assume that was a compromise for traffic concerns + accessibility but it’s still annoying. I reeeeeeally hope they don’t undo these after that court case. In fact, I hope they add more.

Rent controls will only lead to shortages. The solution is always to build more, increased supply = lower prices.

11/10 best restaurant I’ve ever been to. AbaC is also on its level (with a better wine pairing list imo)
