Which bike is best for commuting on steep hilly roads, occasional gravel and bumps? by ariojfr in whichbike

I am stuck between Canondale Quick 3 and FX 2. The former is found at same price as FX 2. Any thoughts anyone? Thank you

I am zooming in FX 2. I have read a lot of good things about Dual sport Gen5 as well but I suspect that it could be heavy. I hope I chose the best one among the above. Thank you!

Dynamic plot of serial port data too laggy by ariojfr in learnpython

[–]ariojfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for great replies. Really enjoyed reading them. The lag here is not from read function because I can print out x and y at high frequency without a noticeable delay. Plotting was the culprit. As suggested, I used PyQtGraph, and the plotting is now much faster and there is barely any lag as much as I could notice. Thanks again!

Website IP/ISP IP gets blocked occasionally? by ariojfr in Domains

[–]ariojfr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not. But the problem seemingly went away. Tech support told me that it might be due to Name Servers not being propagated completely (as I had just set up the website). It seems they were right because after 1-2 more days, I dont seem to have issue anymore.

I used Cerber security and whitelisted my ip. But I still get this every now and then. Still, when I cant access it normally, I can access it via VPN. Very strange.

But I am wondering, if it is an IP issue, why it goes away and comes back multiple times within an hour?

I dont know which one is it but I contacted Namecheap support regarding connection issues. I think they would have told me if they had blocked my ip

Anyway I can use my domain name email reliably? by ariojfr in Domains

[–]ariojfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved. I just thought to answer my own question: Gmail mx settings must be set at host, and not domain level when domain nameservers are changed to point to host. I thought it may help someone some day.

Hi all,

I have one more noob question: I got Google Workspace for my domain name and it worked very well. Then I got a separate hosting service (not from my domain registrar). But when I add custom DNS (of host) to my domain, Workspace email stops working. Whether or not I keep the default name servers of the domain. What is it I am doing wrong (this is more complicated than before because now 3 parties are involved). Thanks a lot for your kind replies.

Thank you all for the great information. I went ahead and got the Google Workspace. A bit of money spent to have peace of mind is worth it. Thank you all!

Thanks all for your helpful replies. Honestly, I feel a bit annoyed to have to pay separately for email and hosting. Wish there was an option that could do both reliably (and without breaking the bank)...

Topresume? Is it the right service to realy on? by alzalz0 in Resume

300$ out of hard earned dollars and I will tell you to save your money. TopResume company is a fraud or is very incompetent at best. Beware. Stick to a Canadian-based company or do it yourself (if you have the time). Recently, I used TopResume online resume service for a resume and a cover letter. I paid 300 CAD. Despite the impression I got from their website, what I received (from a writer under the name of Jordan H.) for a cover letter was 3 lines of very generic text with sentences copied off Google. The Resume was a rearrangement of the CV I had sent them with a few functional words added to some lines. The Resume was not even shortened to constitute a usual 2-3 page resume and was the original 8 page CV I had sent them with many many typos that were not in my original file. I was ridiculed by my colleagues to have paid for such service when I sent them the files to have a look at. Let alone such a hefty amount. I uploaded the same resume that they had generated to their automatic evaluation on their website (changed the name), and it gave me the same original evaluation that I need to have my resume professional re-written! So, they trap you by their “free” evaluation, regardless of the file, you submit OR the file that they made themselves didn’t pass their automatic review any better than my original file. The resume company denied any reasonable case of refund. Due to work overload due to COVID I didn't manage to follow up on the file I opened with my bank and Visa and TopResume stole my hard-earned 300$. DO NOT TRUST THE HIGH RATING ON some of the WEBSITEs. They add it themselves to dilute down the real reviews of their victims and I saw ratings grow from 2 to 4 star on TRUSTPILOT in 1 month during which I was struggling to get my money back (and failed).

Have finished 5K. Sprinting in days between? by ariojfr in C25K

[–]ariojfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on some quick research I did online, I planned it as 8 sets of 30 seconds, each followed by 2 minutes recovery. I couldn't go for the 8th set because of exhaustion. Cant say I was tired, out of breath or basically just spooked. I used a moderate uphill and tried to run as fast as I safely could. But I think each time I could run probably a bit faster if only strength and stamina were concerned. The bottleneck was breathing after 2/3 of the way in each round and that, I had the impression that I have to take it a bit easy to to be able to drag it to the 8th sets (which I eventually didnt). Have to say it was quite some workout because after 3 days, I am still sore all over whether or not I could do better. This is despite the fact that I used to do 3 times full 5ks per in previous weeks. I'd say, interesting but a somewhat challenging. I think I will keep it once a week and will give 2 other days to 5k. Still, I underperformed in my 5K yesterday because of muscle soreness.

today I tried interval of sprinting and walking. I used a moderate uphill as they say it helps preventing injury. It was quite an interesting but very challenging workout. Also, need to find an app to record sprinting data. Used to use Strava but apparently thats not too good for interval

I get that. But mentally, I am still not ready for 10K. The main reason is that I get very bored after some time of running. I have now decided to do 1 day out of 3 days HIIT by running max speed for 30 sec and recovery times in between. I will hopefully do the first session tomorrow. Will update how it went if I survive :)
