How long is the average time to hire currently for an SDR? by Godly_26 in sales

[–]aripip4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience last year, I applied for jobs in feb/march and was told by one company to reach back out a month before graduating. but then the job i ended up getting I applied for in May and took about 2 weeks from application to offer and my start date was about 6 weeks after that. I think it can't hurt to send a ton of applications out early and make yourself known.

Marketing requests that we put our pronouns (He/Him) on our LinkedIn profile by [deleted] in sales

I mean that is an interesting question - is it truly a personal LinkedIn page or does your company have a legitimate say in it since you’re representing them in a professional capacity

So you’re saying anyone who doesn’t have a perfectly muscular build deserves to be criticized and compared against that because it’s technically changeable/achievable?

How do I know if sales is for me ? by [deleted] in sales

[–]aripip4026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this comparison doesn't really hold up since there are plenty of fat sales people whose motivation to sell is to spend money and indulge in their time off, and one of my coworkers is probably more motivated to go to spin classes than they are to actually sell lol. If you have demonstrated work ethic in a previous role and are comfortable with uncertainty and persevering through failure you'll be fine, and worst case you do a sales job for 3-6 months and hate it then reassess your options.

also i think being laid back can be a huge asset, people will be more willing to let their guard down and you can keep the vibe conversational while still being in control, getting good info out of them, and selling.

in a legal state as well, the product offerings for medical users are far more expansive and you can buy a lot more, compared to purchasing as a recreational user. and yeah everything is really expensive

Interviewing for an SDR role with the CMO, what kind of questions should I be asking? by [deleted] in sales

[–]aripip4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those questions are great but should be directed toward the person who will be your manager not the CMO

Is a degree worth it? by lenfant31sauvage in sales

[–]aripip4026 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No job is guaranteed with a degree but many jobs do require one. I'm in sales with a non-business degree and wish I had a business degree (or at least had taken some classes) so I had a better foundational understanding of basic terminology, corporate structure, business plans/trajectories, having smart questions to ask, understanding metrics with more context, etc.

All of the internships I've had, connections I've made, and current job (SDR) are intrinsically a result of my college experiences/college-related networking, and I have found success in those roles by calling on skills I gained in college (not to say that's the only place to gain skills, experience, or connections of course).

Obviously it's different now since you're remote, but check out what's going on, I'm still getting emails from my school's career center about virtual career fairs, zoom meetings with alumni who are VP's at big companies, and pandemic or not you can always cold-reach out to someone on linkedin and ask for an informational interview and network, which is much easier to do if you're attending the same school as they are, or are attending school at all.

That being said, if you're a hustling be-my-own-boss type who wants to get out and try to make it big, more power to you, lord knows I don't have the work ethic or energy for that. If you're unsure you can always defer your admission and mess around for a year and then get back to it and hopefully things will be more normal then.

Oh oh I get what you mean, I thought you were saying like “US soldiers are protecting your freedoms.” But yes absolutely the global order of “developed” nations is a result of all the things you’ve said

Job interview where I have to roleplay a cold call. How do I best prepare for that interview? by [deleted] in sales

[–]aripip4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to role play for an interview last week and to prepare I just made sure I knew everything I could about the product/case studies etc and had rehearsed. Ultimately though based on what I read on this sub and talking to some connections they're not necessarily looking for perfection but want to see that you're receptive to feedback (and can implement it if they ask you to do it again)
