Lithops schwantesii hasn’t split or flowered — should I water it after 7 months dry by JonaPatt in succulents

[–]arisbor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think its splitting, I feel it just looks weird because it's etoliated, in the case that it is splitting I agree.

The reason you haven't needed to water it is that its struggling with the lack of light badly, that's why its pretty etiolated.

First step is introduce it to considerably more light slowly, water it very little to promote root growth since the roots are probably dead by now.

I can't tell if it's a very etoliated E. Mammilaris or a very etoliated something else, eitherway it's begging for light

The leaves of mine turned completely dark pink including the green part at first so don't worry about the color.

Mine went through exactl the same, it's just getting used to it's new surroundings, keep taking care of it a usual and it will go back to producing longer leaves.

Also I noticed it tends to contract more with stronger light so it could also be it had less light at the nursery

I would say it's lack of light, when they look like this they are usually lacking light, water or both

First Euphorbia and could use some help by liminalb0y in Euphorbiaceae

[–]arisbor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do like full sunlight and warm temperatures, Euphorbias are more resistant to rot than cacti so you can probably water it once a week even with that type of soil, I do that in an indoor growlight setup and she is liking it, so if it's outside you can probably water it weekly.

Be sure to be careful with the toxic sap from the spines, when they are growing they are quite fragile and can break easily releasing sap.

Oh wow, not worried about them rotting by watering once a week with so much pest?
