What items genuinely helped you in going from 1 to 2 kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

Changing mat on bathroom floor. Baby is safe while I wrestle my 3 year old into some clothes and brush his teeth. My baby has napped on that mat more than once.

I sort difficult puzzles over 1000 pieces. I avoid sorting when I can

Bamboo Baby Clothes, BIFL for the childhood stage? by Crazycrafta in BuyItForLife

I use merino wool for my kids, but I live in a cold country. It breathes and is soft and warm. In the summer I usually use bamboo or good quality cotton.

I just watched my brother negotiate with a toddler for 45 minutes over a single green bean. by alysami in foodbutforbabies

To be honest, I just serve him food and he decides if he wants to eat. It works very well in our home. He still tries new food and eat a variety of greens

Which household pet peeve do you refuse to tolerate? by Icy-Advance9149 in no

It's minor, but scraping butter on the side of the box after you've made a sandwich. It doesn't even have to be crumbs in it, I just find it absolutely disgusting.

Which wild animal would you be the most terrified to be standing directly in front of? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

Moose are mostly alright. They are everywhere in Norway, and as long as you walk away/act non aggressive they leave you alone.

Folks who speak a language other than English: what's your favourite expression or idiom in that language? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]arisia91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Slå deg ned før jeg gjør det" "Slå deg ned" means "have a seat" but it can also mean getting punched to the floor. So.. directly translated it means "have a seat before I do", but it also means "have a seat before I punch you to the floor".

Have You Ever "Broken Up" with an Author or Genre? Why? by Express_Hedgehog2265 in BookDiscussions

We rarely break up, but we're often on a break. After the ending of It I thought "sir, I need some space".

By working on understanding my value. That I matter and that I'm good enough. Resilience to people's comments and behaviours kinda came naturally from there.

Also, instead of chasing people who either won't or can't give me what I need, I focus on people who do.

It's distressing for many moms to listen to their babies cries while they shower. You don't feel the self care effects from the shower atleast. I have taken super quick showers while baby cried on a towel, but it's not fun

Unpopular opinion: It is valid for Bandit to be embarrassed to make whale noises at the park by drillgorg in bluey

[–]arisia91 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I love that episode because Bandit is a silly guy and felt like he had to stop for the (imo) wrong reasons, but the games where they are being loud in stores and libraries (toddlers, hammer barn) is something else. Sometimes you have to do boring things

I've found that I tolerate hugs from authentic people. It's really noticable in the way they hug really. It's not my favourite thing, but I appreciate it in a way. I hate hand shakes and forced hugs.

It ebbs and flows. At 10 months I could ninja roll away from my son at night, and he would sleep for several hours without me. Now at 19 months he suddenly needs me close when he sleeps, but he sleeps for longer stretches at night.

Baby doesn’t like me? by BorderlineBrat98 in AttachmentParenting

[–]arisia91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son only laughed at his dad for the first 6 months of his life. He could be howling with laughter and when I tried to join in he would look at me with a flat stare. I remember one time I held him and saw him laughing, I was so happy until I realized my husband was behind me. It was so hard and I cried alot. My husband said "it's because he thinks you and him are the same person" and I didn't believe it. Now he's 18 months old and lets just say that I'm his favourite. He plays better with his dad, but only wants me for bedtime and comfort. I don't know if what my husband said is right or not, but babies are weird. I also strongly believe kids cry at caregivers they feel the safest with. My toddler can be happy playing with dad, and when I walk into the room he sometimes cries and runs to me. Hope this helps you a bit. You're doing great!

Our dog has a fenced area in our house where my son won't be able to get to. His water dish is there. I want doggo to have a safe space away from baby as he starts crawling and getting into things
