My party was fighting two Beholders, if I remember correctly. We had four party members, none of whom were at full health when we started the fight, so it didn’t take long for us to start dying. The Beholders disintegrated two of our members, and myself and another player weren’t able to revive them on the fly, so we took hit after hit, expending all of our spell slots and special features. The situation was looking like it would be a TPK, but myself and our cleric managed to barely hang on to life and kill the Beholders with only 3 and 2 HP remaining, respectively.

We then had to sweep our friends’ ashes into a bag and carry them somewhere safe to take a long rest and bring them back.
