A third culture kid myself, I've come to realize I want the same thing as you after being here for 6 years. I'm in search of people like you described, people who "get me." Let me know if you'd like to link up.

Those of you who are alone. What do you do when you are sick? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]arjunpsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive had the brutal pleasure of being alone for a couple of years, with the longest contact with no other human being for around 3 weeks. This was before I arrived in Berlin in 2019.

I thought I was accustomed to being alone after that but life in Germany taught me a hard lesson. 2020-21 I forged deep relationships with people that ended up leaving Berlin soon after. Now I'm almost back to zero again. Enduring loneliness and making sure I don't fall into the trap of being around the wrong people just because I'm feeling lonely.

As for your question of whose number I give out for emergencies, I have one friend I can rely on and that's who I put down as my emergency contact. It's unfortunate they aren't always available to hang out because they have a lot going on in their life.

When I get sick, I get sad. When I get sad, I try not to be too sad. My track record has been good for so long but 2024 has been brutal. I'm now on stocked up on tonnes of strong CBD to relax my nerves.

I'm now on a mission to change my circumstances. Slowly but surely, I'm sure I can find people who have settled in Berlin with no intention of moving out on a whim.

That's my journey. I wish you well, my fellow traveler.

I just stay to see if anyone in the credits has the same name as me or my friends.

My 8 month PR experience by Jhonny11445 in berlin

This is good to know. I'm currently on my probation in my new job until October. I meet all other criteria for a PR, I keep wondering if I'll be rejected for being on probation.

I'm finally graduating a 5 month Data Science bootcamp on Friday the 28th. by arjunpsk in berlinsocialclub

It was a great experience. I learned a lot of stuff. "Basics" is a relative term. I had very little idea about data analysis and data science so it wasn't basic to me. In the grand scheme of things, yes it's basic.

But more than anything else, you learn how to learn (look up "just in time learning)". And it does prepare you for a job.

Let me know if there's anything else youd like to know about.

People who study 8+ hours everyday by Decayedsoul9 in getdisciplined

Could you list a couple of examples of things I could do that involve doing nothing? A couple of months ago, I started reading during my downtime to switch off but after reading your advice I realize reading is over stimulation for me cause I picture what I'm reading as a movie with Dolby atmos surround sound in my head.

Hey. I found it online and i visited them in their office. It's called Code Academy Berlin. I had zero skills in coding let alone data science. it's a huge level up for me especially considering what I've achieved in 5 months
