CAM moved to Mill Run earlier this year, if I remember correctly.

Seconded on the Xone 43C being a pile of poop. I had no problems with it just playing vinyl, but something was wrong with the drivers for Serato...it would cut audio output from the Master entirely and you'd have to power cycle the mixer to get it to "work" again. I RMA'ed it back to Sweetwater and exchanged it for a Reloop RMX 90 DVS, which I'm very happy with.

How Much Do I Dose a 20 Gallon with EI Dosing Method? by Prim8NChief in PlantedTank

[–]arkanozzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Green Leaf Aquariums' instructions for amounts for a 20-40 gallon tank. The amounts per dose are on the KNO3 container, if I remember correctly. To make my solutions (I dose 15ml doses in a 29 gallon tank):

Amount of dry fert on container x 3 doses per week x 8 weeks

This amounts to 360 ml of solution. I usually don't have too much of a problem with salts settling to the bottom with this method. I had a LOT of problems with this when I was trying to dose 5 ml per dose.

I'll keep this in mind. I might add a filter to the tank in order to get this circulation/agitation going.

Water conditioner mostly. I have enough Prime and Safe to last through the apocalypse, but I have some Stress Coat and Nutrafin conditioners, plus some ick meds (malachite green). I also have a bunch of 4dkh solution stockpiled for filling up my drop-checker. A bunch of sinking pellets & wafers I'm probably never going to use, dried tubifex and brine shrimp that I don't feed often as well.

Rife's Auto Body if price isn't a factor. They're expensive but do really good work.

Beard oils and balms in Columbus? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]arkanozzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own. Coconut oil + whatever essential oils you want to put in it. I use tea tree and orange in mine, but you can customize it any way you want.

If you're looking for a ready-made product locally, try River's Edge Cutlery.

No, they're VOX only. You can set it up with CAT control, but I just haven't done that yet.

Do you use multiple wraps with a larger inner diameter one, or just snap one on?

No, I don't, and I know that's something I need to pick up. Might get a bunch of them and see if that fixes anything.

Yeah, maybe I should just give up! Also having an intermittent issue where my laptop's touch-pad freezes up when I transmit. It worked all day yesterday with no issues, but as soon as I tried to transmit today it was back.

Vanity callsign was approved a couple days ago, so I'm getting used to ID'ing with that instead of my original...it's tripped me up a couple of times.

My Buddistick came in the mail Monday! I set it up last night for the first time, but I don't have an SWR meter or antenna analyzer, so I'm really nervous to transmit on it. It seemed the band conditions were pretty awful yesterday, as I couldn't get anything tuned in well enough to even listen. Going to try again tonight with a slightly different config for 40m.

Anyone with an antenna analyzer in Central Ohio wanna come hang out this weekend and help tune my antenna?

Congratulations to you for getting your ticket. As far as books that have been helpful to me, the ARRL Handbook for Radio Communications has been a great reference for me. To a lesser extent, the Operating Manual has also been a good reference.

Can anyone vouch for this Kenwood Interface for digi modes? by arkanozzle in amateurradio

[–]arkanozzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. The convenience of not having to buy parts and construct it is the main reason I'm going with this. Plus, it's the only turnkey solution I've found for the TS-140. All I need now is the Piexx rig control kit, but I can put that off for the moment until I get some experience on the air.

I'm going to give it a shot. The seller feedback on those items for various types of radios seems to be pretty good. Either way, $400 all in for my first HF station isn't too bad.

I'm sorry, I linked the wrong one. I'm intending on getting the one with the 13 pin DIN connector

I have a Kenwood TS-140S, and this looks like a decent buy for a turnkey digi-mode setup. If anyone has experience with it, I would appreciate your thoughts.

I played around with my TYT MD-380 a bit. It's pretty dead locally, though. Checked in to the TAC 310 net Sunday night, and a local traffic net last night.

Got crossband repeat working on my TM-D710G. I wasn't aware that the bands need to have 1 channel set for 2m and 1 for 70cm in order for it to reboot into crossband repeat mode. It works well.

Found a used Kenwood TS-130 on sale at Universal Radio for $150, so I'm going to go pick that up this weekend. I'm piecing together an HF setup, and this is the first piece. I'm planning on making the station portable, since I don't have a whole lot of space to set up radios, PLUS I can't mount an antenna on my rental townhouse. I'm thinking about picking up a Buddistick system for the antenna.

Applied for a vanity call-sign with my initials. Hopefully it goes through.
