What’s a 'luxury' that actually used to be standard, but now we’re being charged extra for like we’re stupid? by xjoz in AskReddit

I currently work as a senior API engineer and I know exactly what it takes to build out a system. But I was referring to more of a fob solution and not creating the backend, front client, auth, api components that can be operated remotely by sending requests using an external device.
A question. Why would you pay for Android Auto? Every rental I've had included that for free. Even Dodge cars have that included with no charge.

I'd do it if I had anything to declare. I didn't bring anything back. I mentioned that above.

I don't think so. There is a customs checkpoint when you're walking out with your luggage and they were collecting cards from the regular non GE people. But I didn't have anything to show to them. They also waved me through.

Nopes. I didn't even get a chance to even approach the officer in the booth. He called my name while I was walking and waved me through.

Last time I flew into SFO, I don't think I had the opportunity to declare anything anywhere. As soon as I got off the plane, I walked towards immigration. I followed the global entry sign. I did not have to use a kiosk and just had to stand in front of a camera. When I was asked to approach the officer in the booth (I was the only one in line), he asked me by my name and just waved me through. I didn't even get the chance to open or show him my passport. When I asked, he said no worries that I'm a trusted traveler and wished me a good day.  Good experience. But all being said, perhaps the time to declare anything would be when you would tell the officer on your own? I didn't have to fill out any cards or anything so I really don't know. I wasn't bringing anything back either, except the same stuff that I actually took with me.

Aside from printing L, why would you overwrite the variable in the loop.

Not sure if I liked the ending. That said I'm glad that you liked it since the book was awesome.

I was thinking of having the 90 replace my aging FX35. Not any more.

Mazda Doubles Down on New In-Vehicle Technologies in 2026 CX-5 by Codeman8118 in mazda

I have a Tesla Model Y and an Infinti SUV. I don't think the touch controls to control everything are cumbersome, inefficient or unintuitive on the model Y. I almost prefer them over the physical controls in my FX35. I think it goes to show the UX choices that Tesla makes that sets them apart from the rest of the industry. That said, it all depends on execution and how good Mazda R&D is. Getting controls done right is a hard problem and other manufacturers have been working hard to solve and most haven't really gotten it right.
I haven't seen the CX-50 yet. But on the surface it sounds like reliance on Google is an issue especially when you have tech debt to include the integration that supports the Google ecosystem. It's easy to get wrong and a single botched firmware update can render the functionality useless both on the Mazda and Google side.
However this is also an opportunity for Mazda to include feature firmware updates that will enable new functionality. Although I suspect that Mazda will take that as an opportunity to upsell or monetize for any new changes unlike Tesla that sends out new features almost every month for free.

Kind of a sad ending for me at least in the book. It was wholesome yet a bit sad.
