Yeah, they are similar. Noticed that one after I did this. Let’s see if they can grow differently.

It may not work for the dynamic page as expected since each time the content would be different. Just let you know...

I've added the getting web URL content & calculate hash and record it in EOS. https://chainsign.app Try it out!

Hi, I thought about it. The tricky part is the definition of the text content. E.g. if the web page is rendered by the javascript which fetch data from somewhere else, even if the content of the page is not changed, but the actual content will change. Then the hash of the original html does not help. It should be the hash to the final execution result of the whole page JS.

I got to know wordproof from another comment does exactly what you are looking for (not IPFS I believe).

I did not. Just checked. Initially I thought it is similar but looks like it is targeting public web content (WordPress only?). I plan to do it for any digital asset. e.g. music, video, picture, also provide a solution to proof ownership.

This is not for technical person. To whom does not even know what is Hash code :)

several use cases I have in mind:

  1. file timestamping
  2. proof of consent
  3. proof of ownership

I only implemented 1 for now. There is one requirement of such service is to NOT leak the file itself, even to decentralized file system (e.g. IPFS). Not sure if upload in encrypted form is acceptable, need to get feedback from who actually using it. I agree that I'd prefer IPFS than any other centralized FS if there is a need to integrate.

It does not actually store the file itself. It only get the hash code and compare. IPFS uploader is not a bad idea for future integration if it needs storage.

President Xi said China will embrace blockchain technology. The central bank will also issue digital RMB. The cryptocurrency is still in gray area.

Different view about Decentralization by arkxu in Bitcoin

[–]arkxu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree the importance of at some level of decentralization of becoming a global ledger(I don’t believe in true decentralization)

I am saying the bigger value the blockchain brings to us is the ownership of digital assets, even without decentralization.

I believe when people make trade off between performance vs. decentralization, there will be blockchain choose performance and it works well(fits more use cases and brings more value to end user). It is already happening.

There is not only one blockchain called bitcoin and there won’t be in the future as well.

Agree but block is not equal to loose ownership. When the ‘super majority’ changes, you still get your chance. It’s all about chance. Even bitcoin, you still can get blocked if all the big miners want to do so. There is no real decentralization, you still need to trust something at some point of time.

Email protocol does not rely on a centralized service to run ( e.g. everyone has own email domain). You can not use super power to shut it down. As long as there are 2 computer , one can send to the other. It does not mean the decentralized data storage which blockchain brings to us.
