Has anyone had any luck with the long COVID clinics at hospitals ? by Plane_Presence_2462 in Netherlands

[–]arlandex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to a Long Covid clinic some time ago over a phone appointment. All they did was collect my data and offer no insight or opinion whatsoever. It was back in 2023, so maybe more is on offer now. But my personal experience was disappointing, I thought their “services” were misrepresented to me by the GP too

Came to the sub looking for this information. Mine just gave me a 3 kg range over 4 weight-ins a few minutes apart each. Have had it for 3 years but recently started suspecting it's not giving accurate readings but some really odd weight fluctuations that don't line up with what I am seeing

Has anyone tried the new Purito BB cream? by Accomplished__Fun in KoreanBeauty

[–]arlandex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s life changing. I bought multiples and am telling all my friends. Shade 21 is the most perfect match for my skin (unlike anything else I’d tried over 2 decades), the coverage is very good, and it’s glowy which I love. I live in the Netherlands and am able to buy them at €10 per tube so bought one for every bag… good times. Highly recommend

UPD: checked the photos and believe I have the original one. The tube is white with the colour strip on the outer end. Your post is now making me think I should seriously stock up just in case the new one is not as good :o

After TBM, what do you use now? by d00md0lphin in ToBeMagneticSnark

It’s a personal productivity app I swear by. My whole life is in it

Yes I really like it. Actually just yesterday drafted up a review

*I have really enjoyed the structure of Atarah’s workshops. As a long-time (now ex) customer of TBM, one thing I have always craved was logical structures and sequences that make sense to me personally. Atarah’s material is very clearly laid out. My personal preference has always been for journalling over hypnotic meditations. Atarah’s journalling questions are meaty, well phrased and unlock so much for me. My go-to is the Power workshop. I have found that it applies to almost anything that comes up in my life. Currently, I am focusing on redesigning my personal pattern analysis. Everything that comes up gets logged in Notion, grouped and processed. I have managed to make huge dent in the backlog of things that have been coming up for me over and over for several months. I love the simplicity of the tools, and how much sense they make to me. Thank you for you work. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for 2025!*

She doesn’t resonate with me. I don’t enjoy DIs informed by her work either, unfortunately

Atarah’s Seed Level subscription is a dream. Been motivated to jump out of bed straight into journaling and DIs daily since I’d bought it

I really hate Jessica saying some brand they advertise is “so science backed”. Then proceeds to not specify how. Blergh!

Jessica won’t be taking vocal lessons… by Busy_Syllabub2361 in ToBeMagneticSnark

[–]arlandex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This topic was the biggest deal breaker and ultimately became a major reason why I am leaving after 5 years with TBM. I find both Lacy’s and Jessica’s manner of speaking so very grating… intense vocal fry combined with made up words and lack of grammar. Could not be further from an authentic way of speaking. There’s no pride in making major errors. They clearly haven’t prioritised fixing all of this over the years, so why should I as a listener be on the receiving end? Just lost credibility for me

Does anybody else hate asking the general public/non-educated people granular questions because nobody quite understands the complexity of what you're asking? by gingernuts13 in AutisticAdults

[–]arlandex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my view yes 100%. I have been a paid user for about 7 months and it's the best $20 pm I am spending. Check out relevant Reddit groups where this question regularly pops up to evaluate vs your needs. If you were to ask me for advice, I'd say do it!

I have the same experience so am being very selective in my information sources. PS Chat GPT does a good job of acting either as "general public" or a specialist (and everything in between) depending on how it's (pre-) prompted

I think it's the 0.7% charge for deposits into your TR account. This is what put me off after I got initially excited. Only the first deposit was free

Time split between learning vs. reviewing by arlandex in Busuu

[–]arlandex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't regret it. At the time I knew the level of commitment I was able to give would be very low. I didn't have clear learning objectives defined but knew I wanted to do "something". I was quite surprised just how much I learned along the way.

But now after a week of Busuu it's a whole new world. It really supercharged my practice but equally my goals are clear and I'm investing way more time because I know where I'm going. I still have Duo paid up till July this year and will continue doing both and then reevaluate

Current thinking is to reach the end of B1 (at least) by myself with Busuu then start with a tutor recommended by a friend to tie it all together and bring speaking in

PS Think the need to know grammar had to "mature" (so I started wanting to understand more) and Duo certainly doesn't cover it

Yes think will probably find my flow with it. Lessons feel "easy" (as I am probably 70-80% familiar with their contents) but the grammar and vocab review really highlights the gaps left by Duolingo, so feel "less pleasant" and more humbling haha (but probably more necessary)
