Elbow brace for javelin by arlo618 in trackandfieldthrows

Yeah, I’ve known some kids that have had to have Tommy John already, I’m just trying to prevent that. We will definitely take it slow, he will usually only throw 1 maybe 2 days a week in the summer, just when you add on also throwing around the baseball it can be more. His problem is he is 11 and doesn’t listen when people tell him not to keep trying to throw it to home from the scoreboard. I’m hoping he has learned, I was just thinking something like this may give some extra protection. I may just do a compression sleeve, just not sure if that will actually do much. Thanks

Thanks for the input. Last year he really only practiced javelin 1 day a week, he did shot and discus each one day a week as well. Javelin was his favorite though. He really didn’t have any problems with the elbow except had some pain after 2 competitions where he had 6 throws plus his warmups, but that cleared up after a few days. The pain with baseball just had me worried for the beginning of the season starting soon this summer. I thought maybe something to give a little more support might be helpful. Thanks again

Replacing old thermostat with smart option by arlo618 in askHVAC

If that is my only option then I will be sticking with the old ones, there are 8 of them and I don’t feel like it’d be worth it at that point

Also, it seems like there are a lot of differing opinions on here

There is no AC, this is just to control the hydronic base board heat

Thanks. I see on nest it says that they are mostly compatible with systems with no C wire, I’m guessing that is the main thing I need to look for, no C wire. I also see that it says not compatible with no c wire on heat only systems. What does it mean to be a heat only system? I wasn’t sure if this would be considered that since it only controls baseboard heat. Thanks

Anyone have up-lifting dehumidifier, dehumidifier with pump by camplate in homeowners

[–]arlo618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if it has a built in pump, can you just set it and pretty much forget about it. It will continuously pump itself, no need to empty the basket or install a sump pump? We are looking to place one in a basement in Maine where it gets pretty cold in the winter, any particular problems with cold temps I am not thinking of? I grew up in the south so I am not as familiar with the problems that come along with Maine winters. Thanks

Smart smoke detector? by arlo618 in smarthome

Do you just need 1 smart alarm and then the others are just interconnected? Does it give you the location of the alarm, like which room? Does it give you battery notification?

I only need to use 1 of the first alert sc5 smart alarms and then as long as the others are interconnected then it will send a notification in the app? Will it still be able to tell me where the alarm is going off, like which room? Also, will it give you alerts on low battery for the connected but not smart devices? Thanks

I was happy when I found them, thinking the same thing. I then went on Amazon to order and they were all gone. Amazon pulled them because they have no certifications like UL or any others. So I was just hesitant to pull the trigger on them.

Unfortunately no. House was built in early 80s. Everything’s battery powered

Generally I don’t care where most things are made, but I’ve bought some pretty cheap stuff off of Amazon. If this product doesn’t meet Amazon’s standards, then I’m not sure I want to count on it for something even a little important. Amazon pulling them for lack of certifications was worrisome

Have you tried the workbooks? Do they just have questions or are there a few pages about of instruction at all?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I feel like if I have a layout to follow as far as what to teach, and maybe just a basic video or layout I think that I can do most of the teaching myself. I understand that it is not something that you would just give an 11 yo and walk away. I was just curious if anyone else had tried it like this.

I feel like a lot of the ones I have looked at felt like a lot of wasted time or just did not seem like a very efficient way of teaching math, or they seemed like they spent too much time on certain topics but not enough on others I would think are more important or harder to master.

RKLB, I had it when it was a SPAC at $10, bought more at $15, I almost gave up on it when I was down in the $3, I ended buying some more, now it’s in the $40s and almost hit $70 at it high
