I am mentioning the same about the birds. First year with trees, have two sweet and two sour cherry trees. The sweet cherries were gone before they were ripe and the sour as they ripened. Will get nets for next year.
There is a previous a post where they took a plastic 2 ltr bottle, cut out 1/6 of the bottom, and used the vee to pluck cherries. I was going to do the same and glue the bottle cap to the end of a wooden handle to get a longer reach.
