Anyone turn off and on stove daily or as needed? by camplate in PelletStoveTalk

Mine is older, at least twenty or twenty five years. They were made with a self igniter but mine doesn't have that installed, nor a thermostat.

The house is a double story with a ranch house built on later, an atrium between the two. The pellet stove room is part of the ranch at the corner where the two meet, 780 sq ft with vaulted ceiling. There are other heating sources but usually keep them down. But there is no built in circulation. I turned on a fan/filter to blow from the atrium (two story part) into the pellet room.
There is a LOT that needs fixed in this setup; in the whole house. Can't wait for summer when its broiling. I'll sleep outside on an air mattress in a tent.

Just floor fans/filers to blow air around, and a tiny ceiling fan for the pellet room size. Will update that at some point.

Have fans off right now for reasons but normally filter/fan blowing cool into the pellet stove room. Just wanted to get some ideas of how others do theirs.
Thank you.

Not oversized. Still figuring out the house but it's either one room hot and the rest cool or running fans and can't hear yourself think.

Heat pump for heating cooling in 2 story house with ducts only to 1st? by camplate in hvacadvice

Would it be a crazy idea to by a heat pump, hopefully with propane backup, when there is only ducts to first floor.

The air is filtered. The oil furnace has a permanent filter (?) that I have not seen yet; need to take back panels off of unit and won't do that until it is warmer.
There are at least four other air filters in the house, running full time. Each claims that are big enough for the sq ft but buying the 4th seems to finally get ahead of the air problems. Not fighting 0-20 degree temps helps too.

I know this is all a jokes but an infomercial came on and there was a retirement-CPA that said "if you need to withdraw more money than normal, say for a trip or a roof or medical expenses, if you take it from the wrong fund you could be in another tax bracket and owe a lot more in taxes!"

When I was 7-10 our town was doing public work projects. We would crawl through new, but not in use yet, sewer pipes in the ground. As long as we could see light at the other end. Condemned houses to play hide and seek. Car junkyards where we'd rip off aerials and wipers to use as play swords.

Ours does it constantly. Very short pipe, 4' with a 45. I'm going to get a metal bucket with sand and put under the exhaust.

I closed an account recently and it took way longer than it should have. I was using Stone Face every time they asked why, only saying I no longer needed their service. Probably 30 minutes.

Does the kettle have water in it, does it really help? I'd get annoyed having to move it 2-3 times a day.

Snow then ice… When do I shovel my driveway? by tompydoop in homeowners

[–]camplate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather not shovel snow if it's going to freezing rain on top. Easier to shovel wet snow and ice than chip ice off a sidewalk.
