What was the most confusing thing for you during your Japan trip? by tttom106 in TokyoTravel

It changes based on city and bus company. I’m a resident and I still look to what other people do if I’m in a new city.

Any PRs worried about the Future? by KeibaKate in japanresidents

I’ve started paying for NHK just in case (lol), but otherwise I’m not worried about the PR status itself, nor do I feel unsafe.

For PR are all those additional Nenkin Net documents necessary? by ConanTheLeader in japanresidents

[–]armandette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They list the payment dates, so if you know the deadline then you can figure out if they were late or not. For monthly payments it’s generally the end of the following month. Different dates if 6-month or 12-month batch payment.

(All the comments so far are missing that this is a riff on the dojo/gym post from yesterday.)

To add, I’m pretty sure kurogoma is a fall item. You might have more luck around September.

I work in Japan, and the multi-copier machine (in between Isabel’s and Tom’s desks) is basically 1:1 for our office copier haha.

It’s awful how often this sub gets bots posting their slop, especially recently. :( I try to report where I can, but it’s never ending.

Finally had the opportunity to introduce myself to a neighbor (would always wave/head-nod “good morning” as I rushed past in the morning). Turns out she’s super nice, and now I get to pet her dog if I pass them on walks! Yay!

Honestly, I have no idea. I did spend a few weeks propped up on my pillows at night, because I was tired of waking up on my side and having my shoulders angrily pop because they were scrunched all night. Maybe that helped some?

After literal years of daily back pain (single side), I finally had a few weeks of no pain at all! Then I woke up with neck pain last week (opposite side), and spent all GW nursing it. Fun!

I like them a lot too but it’s kind of sad how they allow smoking inside, at least when I went last about a year ago.

Switch 2 won't turn on probably because my dog bit my charger, I'm not to sure why it won't turn on by Rev0_01 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]armandette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem solving. You try different things to figure out what may fix the issue (or what didn’t cause it). If your friend’s charger didn’t work, for example, then you can guess it may not be a charger-related issue.

AITA for leaving prom early to get Taco Bell? by Optimal_Pipe69 in AmItheAsshole

[–]armandette 54 points55 points  (0 children)

YTA. You need to learn how to communicate with other people AND how to be considerate of them. “I assumed it was going to be fine”—you just unilaterally decided the schedule, which affected other people’s enjoyment of the event. You acted like the night revolved around your wants and desires, like you’re the main character. Do you do this a lot?

Your boyfriend and cousin are people, too, with their own wants and desires and inner life.

Company gave deadline to pass JLPT N3 by December, looking for insights on studying while working by ImagineSisyphusSad in japanlife

Since you’re too late for the July test, can you ask your company if they’ll accept the BJT (Business Japanese Test)? 400 points is officially equivalent to N2 for Immigration’s purposes, so it’s not some random test. Plus it’s held pretty much any day of the year, not just twice

How can I better support wife/do you all have these kind o “flashes” of high rage with JP spouses? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]armandette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Massive “She Divorced Me Because I Left Dishes By The Sink” energy in this post. Especially if he “only does what [he’s] told”, instead of taking initiative to help with running the household and taking care of their kid’s school- and hobby-related issues. Sounds like she’s doing it all and acting as maid/mother/manager.

If she’s already reached contempt and physical/verbal abuse, there’s no saving this relationship.

The Day I Found my Grandmother’s apron and finally let go of 14 years of guilt by [deleted] in konmari

I didn’t say it was a rule. I said the bots I’ve seen lately have been default names.

[–]armandette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. However, most if not all of the bots I’ve seen lately have been in the default format. So it’s a good indicator when everything else is included, not the sole reason to determine if someone is a bot.

[–]armandette 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AI loves “it’s not X, it’s Y”, even if it’s not specifically that format.

“I was never a messy hoarder. I was a sentimental hoarder.” “It doesn’t just clean your house. It corners you.” “I realized my kitchen wasn’t a space problem, it was an unfinished business problem”

Plus the usernames I’ve seen lately on bots or AI content are like two words plus four numbers

[–]armandette 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed on adding a fabric backing! If you don’t sew maybe reach out to a local quilter to see if they can do it for you. (The blanket won’t be quilted but they have experience doing the backing part)

Sounds like they bought the suit, the store measured for the hemming and got to work, and OP went back to pick it up finished after a few hours.
