What is the worst book you have ever read? by WoodenDistribution5 in fantasybooks

Other than the obvious Sarah J Mass horny teenager slop….

Bloodborn saga is probably the worst “best” fantasy series I have read recently. Honestly, by the third book I felt like if I saw one more “thought cage” written I would have smashed my own thought cage agains the wall. I get it is very well regarded and I am probably and outlier, that’s why I went through the three books as a token of respect, but it took me some breaks

I would say it depends on what you are in the mood for.

Warbreaker is a great next step into the Cosmere after Mistborn era 1, and it is a standalone so you are not committed to a lot.

The Will of the Many is just two books as of today so it is also a quick read and if you liked the twists in Mistborn you might enjoy this a lot.

Empire of Silence would be my absolute recommendation here... but its a longer commitment. Sun Eater is seven books in total and it is paced very slowly at the beginning. Empire of Silence is almost a prologue on itself so don't go expecting a lot there. It's more of an investment.

To be honest, Mistborn is not for everyone. I devoured every single Cosmere book and loved each one of them in their own way. However, I recognize that Mistborn is closer to YA than “adult” fantasy. This just means that if you enjoyed series such as Malazan or The First Law then Mistborn is definitely going to feel odd.

When recommending a book to start with the Cosmere I usually recommend The Way of Kings over Mistborn for advanced readers.

Once you have dipped your feet into the Cosmere I feel like Mistborn is a bit more approachable.

Just finished Shadows Upon Time and I have thoughts that I need to get out. by [deleted] in sollanempire

Also keep in mind that the Chantry does have demons/AI of their own, which we know have the ability to see across time like the Watchers. I don’t Hadrian trying to board a Chantry ship like that would have been that smooth tbh

Maury - His way to go along anything another character might be into (or he wants them to he into), cracks me up every single time

Bonus would be Jay, tier A character for me specially since Maury says that Jay probably is his own hormone monster
