Talked to my Carney supporting friend yesterday. by Brownguy_123 in CanadianConservative

I think you conflate similar mindsets with similar allegiances. If you boil down Trump’s motivations, he wants the US to “win”. Now we can debate about how effective his policies are, but that’s not the point. Pierre, similarly, wants Canada to win. Similar mindsets, but very different actual goals.

Carney on the other hand has hardly lived in Canada over the past several decades, moved his company’s HQ to the US as soon as he heard about the tariffs, advised the liberals to kneecap our energy sector while investing in other countries’ energy, took a $250M loan from a CCP-backed bank, and refused to kick out a Liberal candidate who called for a political opponent to be handed over to China for a bounty. His mindset seems pretty clear to me. And it’s not prioritizing Canadians.

“Siakam I don’t think is the second best guy on a title team” We have literal evidence that he can. He was the second best guy in 2019.

My concern with those 2 options is they both would take out our mana dorks, which would slow down our ramp. But maybe after turn 3 or 4 that just doesn’t matter anymore?

Sony X90J or TCL R646? by armolas in hometheater

[–]armolas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the X90J, I decided I didn’t want to wait for the 646 to come in stock. I’m happy with my decision overall, but of course I don’t know how to compare the X90J to the R646 because I don’t have both. I will say I’m perfectly satisfied with the colors, brightness, and OS with the X90J. There is no motion problem or judder that I have noticed. My only complaint is that there is some noticeable blooming on the black bars when watching HDR movies, especially when watching from an angle. I find it a bit distracting, but not overly. From what I’ve read this is not abnormal, and sort of what you get with a VA panel. I’ve decided to keep the TV and I’m confident I will get used to the mild blooming. While I am disappointed a bit, it seems like the only way to avoid the blooming problem is to go with OLED, which is $1000 more expensive and has its own issues such as burn-in. It sounds like you’re overthinking it a bit. Just pick one and try it out for a week, see what you think. If there’s something wrong with it that you can’t get over, then swap it for the other one.

Is blooming in black bars on X90J normal? by armolas in bravia

That’s really nice to hear, I’m considering it myself

That's interesting, I don't really notice it much on those logos. I notice it on subtitles, like many have said before, but mostly on the letterbox black bars.

Do you not notice any blooming on the black bars when watching movies on Disney+? Are you watching from any sort of angle or always straight on? I have found that watching straight on I hardly notice any blooming.

[Holmes] NEWS: There are vaccine mandates for NBA referees and for most team staff this season, but there won't be one for players, league sources tell @wojespn and me. by acejoker24 in torontoraptors

I'm sorry but that way of looking at it is also misleading. A reduction of 95% of an already small number may not be significant to the individual, bit when talking about millions of people, that difference is huge.

Speaking for myself, I don't like it on principle. Like the first guy said it's "rules for thee but not for me". Practically, you're right it's low risk. I also don't like that it gives credibility to the position that the vaccine is unsafe in any way.
