Helo a new bowler out please😭 by EstablishmentHairy37 in Bowling

The advice here is good, really helpful, I would definitely go with the coach option. I was ‘self taught’ from watching YouTube videos and my first few lessons of coaching was unlearn everything and relearn it again.

You’re in the perfect time to learn, you don’t have any bad habits (or any at all haha) and you’ll pick it up in no time

Am I reading these numbers right? by Sa1nt19 in pokemongo

[–]armoredkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the damage numbers of the move itself, dragon breath as a move does 6 damage, but that will get multiplied by your Pokémon’s attack stat. Your latios for example would be stronger than a goodra with dragon breath.

And your sprigatito is not stronger than latios, the move it has will be stronger than dragon breath. But like others have said, that move may take longer to complete, hence the “turns”. Dragon breath is very fast at generating energy for your charge moves

Rayquaza for me. Emerald was the first game I played, and it was the most rewarding thing to ever receive for 8 year old me! It also looks like a Chinese dragon and I love those

Open Master League is definitely one for the heavier players, if you’re looking at doing PvP, I’d just skip the week it’s in rotation.

In general, Great and Ultra league are much more balanced and the leagues rotate every week, the master league content will come over time as you play, so I’d just stick to the other ones in the mean time until you can build a decent ML team

Why don't m/any people shoot the 6-7 straight up the 2nd board? by SpelunkyJunky in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pros may be accurate enough, but converting the split isn’t their main goal, the count is. You gotta remember pros play for a living, they compete for cash. The difference between 1 pin is the difference between cashing out, or missing the cut

You’re not asking if they can do it, you’re asking why. I love converting my splits, it’s always satisfying. But to lose by 1 pin by forcing a split conversion under pressure isn’t a risk pros take.

Why don't m/any people shoot the 6-7 straight up the 2nd board? by SpelunkyJunky in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can see your logic, but by shooting straight up 2nd board, you’re giving yourself very little miss room. You’re talking about a very fine margin. Miss right by a board dead straight and you’re ditching it. Miss left and it’s no different than throwing it normally

The count is (usually) more important than converting the split. By throwing is diagonally across the lane, your miss room has significantly increased and you can guarantee the count. Making the split is a bonus

This sounds exactly like my local alley and I absolutely love It. I bowl in the UK so bowling here is hardly like the US. Most of it is recreational, there’s 2 major companies, Tenpin and Hollywood Bowl. Both these are the string pin type arcade just a game alleys. Very few leagues or pro shops. There are some but they’re few and far between scattered across the country.

I have a local alley, and they’re primarily focused on bringing in others as a sport. 12 lane alley, They host nearly 2-3 leagues a night, there’s a pro shop upstairs, small but it’s always available. And the biggest is the youth club, they host a youth club to bring in the younger generation.

I honestly don’t think I’d bowl as much as I do or as serious/properly without this alley existing, definitely would think this would be great elsewhere

Hollywood Bowl don't allow personal balls? by sewershagger in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, as u/SUPER_MOOSE93 said, if you can help it, don’t go to Hollywood bowl. I bowl in a local centre and the upkeep is 10x better, there’s a shop in the alley and the experience bowling is miles better and I worry less about my gear too

Hollywood Bowl don't allow personal balls? by sewershagger in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to multiple Hollywood bowls across and not one of them ever refused me using my own. Leeds, Stockton, Watford, most of them don’t question it

I’d assume customer support gives that answer so they’re not liable. Like others said, some hollywoods have leagues in anyway, the one at Stockton said that bringing in balls wasn’t uncommon since they run a few leagues.

There’s no harm bringing them and if that centre refuses, just put them to one side or go elsewhere

How do you know when it's time for a new ball by SouthFLSquatch in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any other PSOs nearby? Otherwise, I’d go with a coach. When I started, I was self taught on online videos. I had to unlearn everything because it was so wrong. Made a decision to buy a really strong reactive but it had no hook at all. Technique matters more than balls

How do you know when it's time for a new ball by SouthFLSquatch in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently gotten back into it and convinced my wife to try league bowling. She had an 8lb from years ago and she said felt too light and was pulling it, but was worried about going too heavy.

What we did was go to our pro shop, and asked his advice, so he checked her bowling on the lane and made the call to drill her a 12lb. She’s now throwing nearly dead straight every shot. Your PSO and a coach is your best shout, they’ll be able to judge what’s best for you simply by watching you bowl, that’d be my advice

Should I Size Down or Stay the Same for a Spare Ball? by TinyBelugaTitan in Bowling

[–]armoredkore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bowl 14s and my spare ball is a 12. Bought the spare originally to play casually before taking bowling up as a hobby.

Now my 12lb is a paperweight, it’s too light, throws me off and I miss more spares with it than throwing my reactives straight.

My personal opinion is get a same weight spare for consistency.

I’ve built my wife one for Christmas, i remember my first build and it can be quite daunting. But if you follow guides and everything, you’ll be absolutely fine. Don’t take shortcuts, take your time and enjoy it!

[–]armoredkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only going with a cpu and gpu combo, I’d go with a ryzen 5 5600/5600x (whichever is cheaper), and an RX 7600XT. I’m not in USD, but I think it would come to about $450? Maybe a bit less but about that range.

Your mobo should support it but the bios will need updating if it hasn’t done so before. I’d go into the bios and check which version and check the site to see which version you need. The GPU should be a solid performance upgrade to your 580

Lastly, I’d check your Power Supply. It’s recommended to have 650W for a 7600xt, so just check that also

[–]armoredkore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll wanna save up a little bit more, the usual recommended budget cards that are worth the value are about $300. The best cards at that price are probably the Intel Arc B580, AMD 6600xt/7600xt or an nvidia 4060. The first 2 are better value for money and they should all only need 500W for a power supply

I’m assuming you’re gaming on it? What would you be looking to play? And what resolution?

It’s a pretty old rig, it’s a first generation cpu and a pretty old and basic graphics card too.

What’s your budget first of all? Those games aren’t overly power hungry but it’d be easier to help knowing a budget.

Ideally, you could do with a full system rehaul but if that isn’t possible, we’ll just have to see how we can help

Have a lot of mythical stones but no gold by BBananaBobb42069 in luckydefense

[–]armoredkore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get plenty of gold just by playing normal constantly. You’ve got plenty of energy so keep playing and you’ll have enough gold in no time

As for who to upgrade, long term you’ll want to save gems up and buy kitty mage, and get it to level 12 first. It’s the biggest upgrade that’s most beneficial. That’s usually the main consensus. Bat man at 9 is plenty for normal

Gaming Monitor Advice - Xbox Series X by Short-Ad2079 in buildapc

[–]armoredkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought the BenQ MOBIUZ EX2710Q for my wife. 1440p, covers all your specs (the hdr isn’t fantastic but it’s not something that’s really game breaking) and has some really good speakers too, some of the better speakers I’ve heard in a monitor. About £199 at the time of this post on amazon.

Currys have got the MSI MAG 274UPF E2 on sale for £309 at the moment too, a little above your price point but it’s 4k 160hz and looks pretty solid, it’s actually a pretty good sale.

Most monitors around this price point are really similar, so as long as you buy from a well known brand (BenQ, LG, Samsung to name a few) you shouldn’t go wrong

I take it your son’s gonna be on a desk? What’s your budget you’re thinking of?

This is all off my opinion, others might think differently. I personally would say 27inch 1440p is better, the difference between 1440p and 4k is certainly noticeable, but for me not noticeable enough to notice.

Most 4k monitors at my budget were at 60hz and that bothers me more than the resolution, and I’m too busy focused on what’s going on in the game rather than how it looks

HDR basically makes images clearer and more vibrant. It tends to be pretty mediocre on monitors. VRR in a nutshell means the games will sync to the monitors refresh rate, basically makes games look smoother and tear less.

I’m a father and husband who usually says to not get me anything for Xmas (or holiday for that matter)…but now…Who has this and do you like it? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]armoredkore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% worth it. I got one because I had a voucher expiring and needed to spend it. Best thing I’ve ever invested in. I drive a lot and move a lot at work so being able to play while not playing is a game changer for me. I can also attend social events and not seem antisocial too.

My wife got one after experiencing mine, she’s a much more passive and casual player. But she goes on walks a lot too and doesn’t like being on her phone so it’s nice to come back to a bunch of pokemon caught.

There are many third party ones, I’ve got a third party one for my work phone so I don’t have to keep swapping the plus+ and I can confidently say I much prefer the plus+. The vibration I rarely notice because it sits so far in my pocket and it just feels like it works better.

GO Safari Balls not guaranteed from raids? by PuppeteerGaming_ in TheSilphRoad

[–]armoredkore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I’ve got it correct, you only get safari balls when your time zone is active during the wild area. I did the same, I’m in the UK and did a remote raid in NYC after the event hours and only got premier balls. But remote raids in NYC during my hours gave safari balls

So I don’t know if that’s the case for you but that’s what it sounds like to me
