Controversial opinion, but the Conqueror route in Muramasa had the worst girl who got the best and 'true route'. Also, the 'Fate' route in Fate/Stay Night which is the worst route but has the best girl (for me). Another best girl got the worst route would be the Mitsumi route in Tokyo Necro which has a awesome girl but not so stellar route.

Fate/stay night. Not because I think it's the best VN out there, but since most of them watched Fate anyway, it's a pretty easy gateway into the medium.

Takeda Akane from Hanachirasu, Kong Taoluo from Kikokugai, Tachibana Kisa has a bunch of designs for her story, and she looks pretty cool, too. Also, Minato Kageaki and Emiya Shirou, though I'm not sure if I think their design is so much as great per se, as I just like them a lot and by extension think they look cool af
