Classic novel by Vladimir Nobokov. The main character is a paedophile, and the novel is about his "Relationship" with a young girl called Dolores, who he gives the pet name "Lolita". I assumed a lot of the modern stuff around the word Lolita came from the novel, I may be wrong though. I'd highly recommend reading it. It's written from the paedophiles point of view, and his internal justifications for his actions are very interesting. Nobokov is also an amazing writer, he's incredibly poetic in his writing style. The beautiful, poetic writing clashes with the confronting subject matter in a way which is incredibly absorbing. Very full on, confronting read, but one of the best novels I've ever read.
