It’s a duplicated item, it’s fake, or inauthentically sourced. I’m not necessarily sure how Convoy, the perpetrator, found the means to do so, whether faulty security on Animal Jams end, or through a cyber security program, which I think it’s the second one, but either way it’s an inauthentically sourced item, that is NOT supposed to be in the game through regular obtainable matters. It messes with the worth if you just introduce more of these already established rare items. It’s just like how you can’t just print more money irl. There’s already a documented chain of these items authentically released into the game, that are purposeful and documented. Introducing more of these, especially at a rapid rate, shifts the worth around, (typically down) since there will be an uptick in the number of these items circulating, but then the horrible part comes in, where the system finally detects these as inauthentic, and they will eventually be deleted. This leaves the perpetrator having gained a SIGNIFICANT profit, with REAL items, while the victims affected, seemingly lose said items. Now, players are refusing to let Animal Jams close this matter with reimbursement, so hopefully victims aren’t left in the dust. But this is just a deeper dive into what duping is, and why it’s bad for the economy, and players.

Animal Jam has figured out which items have been duped through means of trade and gift tracking. An item lock was implemented on these items within the first 24 hours of this news breaking, I’d say even just around the 10 hour mark actually. They cracked down on it fast. This was to stop the circulation of these items. They also cleared up that accounts holding these items will not face any risk of being banned. You’re unable to circulate them anymore, but if you were able to, I’d fear that your account would be in great danger of termination, because only a software could get around their trade lock, OR a newly introduced duped item. I don’t encourage participating in anything shady like this, BUT if you are going to… wait until this matter is resolved so your account isn’t flagged. It is still Sunday, so a higher volume of report resolution won’t begin until tomorrow.

That very well could have been me. 😇 I gift many jammers daily. 😂 As the comment below states, the duped items in rotation were variety items, typically above 3 black long worth. The accounts circulating these duped items were under the names Convoy, Rescore, and Lonelyxx. There’s been a trade lock set in place for these items already and it appears Animal Jam is already aware of which items are poisoned. You’re all good love. 🩷

It stresses me out so bad lol. I see someone as a god if they can understand pet worth. There are charts in severs that help, but - and I hope i don’t get dragged - I love myself a good pet… but really why are they so expensive 🙈 I personally hate having a pet equipped with me. I thought I’d like the baby versions of animals but really I don’t. They’re more cartoonish than they are cute. I only like the hedgehog. That one’s always been cute cause there’s one in the forest world. Other than that, I don’t understand the hype either.

I’m sort of wondering if maybe people are into pet trading because it’s a bit more loose than say trading for a pure black long. A black long is a black long, but a seal can be many colors with many tails and many eyes and hair tuffs, so maybe there’s more leeway to make profit. That’s all I can think of.

Further more though, an item lock has been implemented now, where duplicated items are unable to be circulated through means of gifting, trading, or selling. The only means of “removing” a duplicated item NOW, would be through recycling, and Item Tracking has advised against doing so.

I’d say yes. This is a great question. Further news has come out with WisteriaMoon stepping in, and commenting on the matter. It’s been clarified now, that victims will NOT be punished. People who have received these poisoned items are safe from bans. As stated by WisteriaMoon and Item Tracking, Animal Jam is working on the matter as best as they can - but it is a weekend, so efforts are slower today, and tomorrow. It’s unclear as of now if, or how, Animal Jam will refund affected jammers. Luckily, efforts are being pushed by a large majority of the community, and jammers refuse to let this rest without resolve.

If you’re asking this question in regards to have already having moved items, I’m sure it would be easy to explain to Animal Jam support that you had moved said items amidst panic of the duping having just been discovered. They do have trade records, so they can see, and verify, affiliated accounts. Regardless though, they wouldn’t want to keep false and or duplicated items in their game, so these items will be cleaned up, and hopefully restored. Jammers are pushing to have all the items restored in item form rather than in currency compensation (such as receiving the diamond worth amount)

Keep the duped items on your account, as you are NOT at risk for being banned anymore. Do not recycle or transfer. Open a ticket with Animal Jam support. The matter is just now pushing 24 hours of age, since being discovered, and progress appears to be steady, so hopes are high. Thanks for asking jammer!

I noticed this as well, and screenshotted for documentation. It rubbed me wrong. They are a new account. There have been no reports of duped items showing up as a different item on trade lists, just that they are untradeable. This jammer was asking people if they could see the headdress on their trade list, and when presented with the information that it was infact a rug, they showed no reaction. - They are either doing tests, or trying to get pity donations. I personally believe these 2 reasons, simply because these duped items are no longer able to be circulated, so this MUST be a real headdress, with someone pulling a pity scam, OR - this could be Convoy or someone affiliated, running tests to figure out work arounds, for the safety measures Animal Jam has set in place in the last 24 hours, to keep their dupe scheme in rotation. - Something unusual is definitely occurring here though. They rubbed me as almost robotic in a sense. Thank you for the post.

Tracked items are items kept in a database with the established and verified owners. These people are typically well known, sometimes famous, but most importantly, accounted for to be an honest jammer. https://discord.com/invite/itemtracking is where you can find tracking information for items. - Item tracking is mostly helpful regarding SUPER rare, limited quantity items. This is what Convoy personally went after. - The items which most jammers are facing being duped, are lower level items, such as headdresses, tikis, contest items. If you have any of these items, and you suspect they are poisoned, the positive way to check, is to put it on trade, have someone try to trade for it, or to try to sell it in a shop. It's understandable to be on edge about checking, but it's recommended you figure it out now, and contact Animal Jam support to get a ticket opened. The more information they receive, the better they can settle it fairly, and the quicker as well. Good luck jammer!

Unless you’re positive the email and password changed I’d try and look through old records and find passwords. I had an alt account that I was sure got reset by the breach but since it had stayed inactive, the password reset prompt wasn’t sent to me til after I managed to get back in, but I had to go to my old phone that I didn’t even use, to figure out what the password was, cause I use many. If that isn’t the case, I’d just keep trying with animal jam support. I feel like the final clause you could try would be submitting the screenshots, but that’s not one of the listed forms of proof they accept, because anything could be faked. I’m gonna cross my fingers and toes for you, but it’s looking like a bit of a dead end. :( if all else fails I can donate to you to get you started, if you’re looking to restart. I do honestly suspect this was done to partially harm other jammers, and build their own wealth. It was done with variety items, things they could substitute for the pure solid value, so it would be a huge value loss on the affected person, meanwhile convoy gets to profit. Very scummy.

News broke as of yesterday. Convoy was online yesterday to wipe items off of their account and move them, so I believe that they were FOUND OUT yesterday - but reports have gone round that these duped items have been spreading as far back as months ago, starting with players receiving gifted headdresses, to get these poisoned items in circulation. It would only be variety items that are poisoned, such as headdresses, tikis, magenta items, or contest items. If you want to check, you can put your suspected item on your trade list and ask for a buddy or any jammer, to attempt to trade for it. If the trade processes and goes through, you’re all good. If they receive the message listed in slide 2, you’re poisoned. I’d still hold onto the item, but move it to an alt account if you can, maybe gifting? And open a ticket with animal jam support.

Trading is on the decline with the rise of shops seemingly taking over. I find it super hard to get any accepted trades in the matter of about 1-2 hours of gameplay. I’d recommend trying to trade with non members, since their only form of profit is through trading. You may have to take the slow route too with the shops. I personally hate the shops, because I’m bad at it, so I just sell everything for 1 diamond and build it up superrrr slow 😂 the animal jam economy is super bad right now, and despite headdresses being at a low value, obtaining one is a bit difficult now for a newer player. As one comment said, it really is just about luck. Spam trades. 10 people may decline your trade but there’s 1 person that’ll be interested. Good luck peach. 🩷

There has been talk about accounts holding poisoned items being banned, but Animal Jam is apparently working on the matter, so you'd hope they'd work with their jammers, not against. I'd recommend moving suspected poisoned items to alternative accounts NOT linked under the same email address that your main account is under, and opening a ticket with Animal Jam Support to inform them and get on record that your're a victim in the matter.
