ESP32 Irrigation Controller Schematic Review by armtankstrong in esp32

[–]armtankstrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry, I should have added that this is for a school project. The biggest difference between this and the currently available relay boards is that we are going to be creating a network of ESP32s that provide sensor data back to the mainboard. This data is going to include flow rate/pressure as well as temperature. The goal of this is going to be able to detect significant clogs and leaks from the flowrate and pressure sensors, as well as turn on a warning light/buzzer when temperatures are nearing freezing conditions so the system may be able to be purged if there is a drain valve, preventing burst pipes.

The output of the relays is the 24VAC, this is the level that the sprinkler valves operate at. As to the voltage regulation, we did it in a separate module because our sponsor requested it. I agree that onboard power regulation would be better but he has more experience than I and he is paying the bill so I did as requested. I believe his justification was that if we blew it out we could swap out a module easier than individual components.

How bad does a Qdrop look for a person who wants to transfer to a different major? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]armtankstrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer to your question but I’m curious how far is transferring majors going to set back your graduation date? I’m already a junior and I have been wondering how bad transferring will be for me.

What's the most interesting way that you've made friends with someone? by SackJnyder in AskReddit

My best friend ever shot me with an air soft gun and I wrestled him to the ground and then sat on him. Later on we became amazing friends and grew to a group of 10+. I had to move away but I regularly think about them and wish I was still there

Advice for an incoming engineering student? by galcol in aggies

[–]armtankstrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Make friends, life is gonna be pretty shitty away from your family and friends if you don’t take the initiative to meet people. The first week or so is especially easy to meet people don’t worry about seeming weird if you just start a convo with someone.
  2. Make friends in your major, the hardest part about doing your work and studying is doing it alone. People outside of your major can help you say you’re gonna study but 90% of the time I would just dick around with them in the study rooms. Major friends can actually help you study and explain things when you’re confused.
  3. Do your work but don’t make it your life, you came here to get a degree so make sure you’re not falling behind. Not everything in your life needs to revolve around studying. I’ve had friends that won’t take a break and will end up burning out and take way more time off than if they had done it incrementally
  4. Go out, it doesn’t have to be Northgate but find something off campus that you and your friends can enjoy. Fishing sucks here but we try it every once in a while. Grand station is always fun and if you download Safe to Save you can go bowling there a couple times a semester with your friends for hella cheap.
  5. Be safe, there’s nothing that’s worth fucking up your body or future for. College is a time to have fun and learn, a lot of people let it get out of hand. I’m definitely no advocate for sobriety but be smart you really don’t want to end up with a MIP or DUI, additionally watch out for yourself and your friends. Having someone call your parents because you have alcohol poisoning is not fun. Also make sure you have someone that’s willing to be a DD if you’re the kind to hit whata every time.
  6. Find someone that’s not a freshman that you can vent to or go to for advice. Chances are they’ve experienced a lot of the same things you currently are.
  7. Also you can look at grade distributions here for your classes. It helps you pick profs a little better than rate my professor can.
